After start it backfires, sputters then runs

Hi,when starting bike you put the chock on,remeber this is to make a richer mixture for cold start,so when you start the bike put put the choke off a little bit as it warms up,other wise wat you are doing is couseing it to floud,so again as the bike warms up put the choke off little bit at a time, all the best.

When ever I ride my Discover 125CC,2005 model after washing it gets choked/missing.It gets difficult to even start it.After starting it doesnt move without applying the choke. When i went to the service...

I had the same symptoms with a 1980 Kawasaki LTD. I couldn't ride in the rain, because it would miss and shut down. For my bike the problem was cracked coils. Any water at all getting in the coils will short the electrical path to the spark plugs. Check your coils, especially around the wire leads for any cracks or openings.

If the bike just runs better with the choke on, it sounds more like the fuel/air mixture is just too lean. Make sure you have the correct air filter properly installed, and the carburator is adjusted properly.

Good luck!

Dear Friend,

I was also facing the same problem with my Discover125 for a while. When i went to the service centre they said it happens with most of the Discover users.According to them there may be a possiblity of water going inside the Carburator and due to that this missing is happening.Earlier my choke was not working, but now i have rectified my choke assy and i use the choke when ever i face this problem and the bike runs ok. Even though i am not able to solve this problem permanently, i can ride my bike without much problem.Still i am trying to solve this problem permanently. If you find any solution please mail me to [email protected].

1999 HONDA 1100C3. RUNS ROUGH AND QUITS WHEN I REMOVE CHOKE.

I think you are exactly right. Sounds like you have some clogging in your idle jets and probably in need of a carb tune up. if you havnt replaced or cleaned your air filter in a while, now would be a good time to do that as well, being that some filters begin to break down and pieces of them get into the carb ports and cause clogging.

The bike has sat for ages and i pulled out the carbies and cleaned them and changed the plugs it runs really rough up to about 1/4 throttle then its fine.what might be the problem?

how does it run while the choke is on....the choke circuit over rides or enhances the pilot circuit... most likely repair would require re-servicing the carb bank & spend more time on the pilot system...u must remove these jets to repair properly.

its your choke. when the choke is to the left it will sputter around. try moving the choke completely to the right. mine does the same thing u just have to run the choke on the right side. i dont know if its supposed to be on the left or right but if u push it ALL the way to the right it should be fine. my kawasaki 360 prairie is pushin 55 mph so i think i have it set up right.- Kyle
