Acceleration When I try to accelerate, it takes a really long time, especially at higher speeds. The engine revs and I see the RPM monitor go up but it takes a long time to go faster. This happens the most on the freeway, I can hardly stay in fifth gear (its a 5 speed) because if I'm going up any kind of grade I can't accelerate at all. Also, when I'm at a stop and accelerate out of first, I hear a slight squeaking noise.

Sluggish

Check the compression. This problem often happens when the head gasket is gone and there is not enough compression.

If the engine is consuming water, then it is definitively the head gasket.

Let me know if this is the problem.

I have an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee v6 2x2 with 170k... I'm having a couple of issues... 1. Occasionally will have trouble with cycling through gears when getting on Hwy causing decreased, sluggish...

I would consider changing the vehicle speed sensor. When they go bad, they can really throw out a lot of bad data to the computer, resulting in unexpected behavior like you're experiencing. They're only around $20-$25. I hope this helps! :)

Engine cuts out when requiring boost

check Fuel pressure regulator by disconnecting the vacuum hose. Didn't say what year you have, yet the timing belt can also cause this as I had similar problems on an 87 and the belts were loose and floppy causing erratic firing/idling. A little easy trick to check timing belts without taking any parts off to get at timing belts, is (and no one knows about this one, hee) with a timing light!

My MAzda 2003 MPV ES.The evap and EGR still incomplete, need reset on the monitor- drive test; everything else passed the smog. no codes show on scanner. FEw months ago, I chage the battery, but I was told...

Here is the procedure for allowing system to run each of the separate mode tests.
EGR : Start engine and warm up completely. Make sure all electrical loads are off (A/C headlights, blower fan, and rear window defroster) Accelerate to between 49-57 mph and hold a very steady speed for 1 minute. Decelerate to a stop and turn off engine.
EVAP : Ensure Baro pressure is 21.3 inHg or higher, Intake air temp is 41-95 'F, Fuel tank level is between 25-75%, Battery voltage is 10.9-14.6 volts. Start engine and idle for more than 10 seconds then turn key to off. Leave vehicle to sit for 5 hours or more. Start engine and race to 3500 rpm to warm up completely the idle for more than 15 minutes. Accelerate and then drive vehicle at very steady speed between 40-50 mph for more than 5 minutes. Stop vehicle and turn key to off. Leave vehicle undisturbed for 20 minutes or more.
When I say steady speed in the above, try to keep dead on to a set speed to help ensure the test is run. Especially for the EGR as this is when the test will be performed and if speed/rpm is not very steady then test will not be performed. The Evap test will be ran during that final 20 minute or more sitting period (or should be anyway).

Water temperature gauge stops working and the engine revs up to 3000 RPM and engine stalls when accelerating.

It sounds like the coolant sensor is bad. Are you getting a "check engine" light?

P1613 fault code & engine will not rev over 3000 rpm when you get to 3000rpm it then fluctutated between 2500 rpm & 3000 rpm causing the car to buckaroo

Crank sensor or engine speed sensor is faulty.

Fault:
Irregular power loss on accelerating
The speed of the engine is limited till 2500rpm
Frequent loss of crankshaft position sensor signal

Cause:
It is caused due to leaking from thermostat housing into crankshaft position sensor harness multi-plug

Remedy:
Check and clean the crankshaft position sensor harness multi-plug contacts. Rectify the engine coolant leak from the thermostat housing if found. Take a note of the engine coolant level and monitor it for changes, showing a leak is indeed occurring.
