SOURCE: kick start is jammed

Put the bike in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, the higher the better. Sit on the bike, with your hand off the clutch lever, and rock the bike back and forth to rotate the clutch hub. This might free up the lever. You will need to drain the oil and remove the right side casing to see and service the kick starter. If I recall correctly, there is a spring clip that allows the kick gear to engage the clutch hub. The piece could be broken, weak or out of position.

it sounds to me that u did not relese the chain tenconhir. the cam timing will slip when you kick it over. at the worst u have bent some valves. take the ignition cover off turn the engine back a bit. remove the tenchinor take the cams back out to relise the chaine of the cams turn the piston to bottom dead center then check the shim clearance if the gaps have opend up then u have bent valves. if all is ok refit all engine components retime cams refit the tenchinor. once u have got it all timed up and thecinor replaced get a big secwdriver and push the centre of the tencinor in untill it releses ant takes all the slack outa the chain.

check inlet valve clearances. they close up making it hard to start exactly as you described. titanium valve coatings wear and ressesion happens quickly,a clean air filter must be maintained to prevent contaniments wearing valve coatings.

2011 250 sxf . owned for 8 months bought new.problem is the bike will die as soon as you give it gas.problem is very intermitent. may run great for a while then will start doing it again. been to dealer 6...

When you "give it gas" you are opening the throttle.
At that point the fuel system is supposed to supply the engine with more fuel to maintain the air/fuel mixture.
Check for anything that might be clogged like filters, hoses, fuel passages, etc.
If it is still under warranty you could void your warranty
if you work on it though in this case a warranty is meaningless if you have taken it in 6 times.
I've seen models where you could replace everything and
a week later it would refuse to run.
Sometimes it's better to leave the thing at the junk yard and buy a new one but that doesn't happen often.

If the cam was installed 180 degrees out, the piston is probably hitting an open valve. The cam lobes should be pointing downward when cam chain timing is set. Pull the head then see if the kickstart lever is free to turn the crankshaft.
