Engine number location
If you still have the original engine in the vehicle the engine can be identified by the 8th digit in the Vehicle Identifiaction Number (VIN) which is located on the dash at the bottom left of the windshield (best viewed from outside of the vehicle.
The letters N or P indicate a 5.0 liter engine.
The letter X indicates a 4.0 liter V-6 engine.
I hope this helps.

The PCV valve for a 5.0L is located below the upper intake manifold in the rear. It is locate in the lower intake manifold in the rear right below the upper intake manifold. It is really hard to see but if you get a mirror you can probably see it.

SOURCE: 1996 ford explorer brake light fuse location
Hi there:Start at the brake switch, generally is located top of backside brake pedal... if you have power in, and power out... go back to the tail lights, working your way back through the harness... find the point where you loose power... there will be a junction where all 3 brake lights come together... check the connection there... see if you have power before and after the junction.
Check and test position 13, 15AMP...
Fuse panel (located left side of instrument panel)
