Will start easy when cold but will not start when hot i have to wait until it is cold again
These types of intermittent starting issues are commonly caused by electrical malfunctions in the starting circuit. First, check all electrical connections for corrosion and a good connection, and deal with any issues there.
If that checks out, next time it gives you a hot start problem check the battery voltage with a voltmeter or multimeter. You could also take the battery to an auto parts store where they'll check it for free. If the battery is good and it still won't start, it could be a bad starter solenoid. You *can* jump the solenoid with an insulated screwdriver, but be careful...they're pretty cheap to replace just to rule it out.
It could also be the starter itself. You could remove it and take it to a parts store to be bench tested.
If all of that checks out it could be something in a starter safety switch or other electronics, but generally a hot start is connections, battery, solenoid, or starter. Good luck!

SOURCE: suzuki 1400 intruder wont start.. just clicking noise.
It's most likely the connection to the battery. The screws dont tighten in well and you get the famous clicking....I replaced the stock philips screws with a hex bolt and after two years of trying to solve the problen have been starting everytime for the past year no problems. Another gie away is the intermitant starting problem gets worse when wet.

You need to buy a volt meter and set it on 10, or 20 v-. Start the bike and see what it says. A good charging system will show 13-14+ volts. If the meter says 11-12 volts or does not change, you have a bad stator, or rect/reg. Take to a shop to have it further tested. Chaz Moto DC

the stalling is due to the rectifier (its a box under the plastics on the bike and has fins on it) if not this then possibly an air/fuel mixture problem but as with my old vl it was the rectifier
