Remove the fork from the bike, remove the dust cover over the oil seal, this will expose the fork seal that is leaking, remove the seal(probably have to stab throgh it with a screwdriver to get it out)measure the seal outside diameter and the diameter of the fork leg, take the seal and your measurements to any motorcycle shop and they should be able to match up a new seal...replace the seals in both fork tubes,as if one is leaking the other one will fail soon

Oily fluid leaking from front suspension forks. Both sides leaking how do i repair this.

Replace the Fork oil seals. It will require you to support the bike from the headstock and remove the forks. You will also need to know the correct amount of fork oil to put in each leg. Buy the manual for your bike (whatever it is) it will cost about 20GBP. a new set of forks will cost considerably more.

What is the best way to fit front fork gaiters to my 1973 triumph T140.thanks

Gaiters, I can assume you are referring to the rubber telescopic spring covers on each fork. There is only one way to change these I'm afraid and that means the forks have to come off the bike and come apart on the bench.Triumph never did anything easy! Take the oppurtunity to clean the forks, replace the oil seals and change the fork oil and inspect all the bits.(might as well) When installing the new gaiters the info I have says to use a light oil to help slip them into place by hand with an even pressure. No screwdrivers or pliers. Hope this has helped, nice to chat with another British fan, good luck with the job.Cheers

HOW DO I TAKE SEALS OUT OF THE FORKS

The forks need to come apart.
I highly recommend getting the factory service and repair manual.
You will need a seal driver tool, and measure the correct amount of fork oil. This isn't a simple job, and it's why I recommend the book.

Hi my name is Andy i have a GS550 cafe racer the falk seals are leeking how much iol do you need per leg? [email protected]

you should put in new fork seals before adding oil -leaking fork seals should be repaired as oil can get on the front brake pads--buy a clymer manual and you can change them yourself

Not worth repairing-- a new focuser for your telescope would cost as much or more than the telescope-- unless you can find a discarded telescope of the same model..... for parts.
