SOURCE: i have a 2002 honda vtx 1800 will not idle but loads with gas

Check for a blocked airbox vent, sometime we put things under the seat that will cover the airbox inlet which will automatically make the bike run extremely rich and all that needs to be done is to remove the paper or gloves or whatever there is blocking the inlet snorkel. You may also want to check for tight intake valves too. That is classic Honda, tight valves will cause a rich mixture all the time if it is the intake valves making the problem.
Please let me know if this works, if not give me more specific data and I will better assist you.

Have you checked the fuel filter ? Some are in line others are in the tank petcock. I am Not familiar with that model but it sounds like it's a fuel issue.

SOURCE: My Honda VTX stalled at about 60 mph. I thought

I would run a can of Techron fuel system cleaner through it. May have sucked some debris out of the tank and into the carb (injector). Also if it has a fuel filter I think I would change it.

Vtx1300 running on one cylinder

Hi, Anonymous you need "FIVE" things in order for a cylinder to run properly:
1. FUEL: in order to validate your not getting fuel spray some starting fluid into the air cleaner and hit the starter button, if it fires up and runs for a few seconds then you know you have a fuel delivery issue. Multi carb banks should be bench "SYNC"
2. SPARK: remove the spark plug and with it connected to the spark plug cable ground the threads to something metal you should see a bluish white spark if not you have a faulty spark plug, spark plug cable, ignition coil, condenser, CKP, ECM, sensor or the wiring in between.
3. COMPRESSION: you must have at least 80-100 PSI for most bikes, multi-cylinder engines should be within 10-15% of each other if not perform a leak down test you may have a burnt or bent valve or hole in the piston or broken rings.
4. CAM TIMING: confirm your timing marks are aligned to see if the cam chain or adjuster are worn out and the chain has skipped a couple teeth.
5. IGNITION TIMING: on older bikes check to see if your points have not closed up, timing plate has not become loose and confirm with a timing light for proper retard and advance functions, on newer bikes where timing is controlled by an ECM and is nonadjustable check you CKP, TPS, MAP, O2, sensor or its counterpart for integrity.

Bike will only run on center 2 cylinders,it was woking fine and then it started to run ruff and now it only will run on 2 cylinders, the other 2 have spark.could it be a timing chain?or fuel? when i removed...

The timing chain runs the cams for all cylnders.so no it shouldnt be the chain
with 4 cylnder bikes the two outside cylnders run off the same coil, but if you say it has spark the next step is fuel.
Make sure the battery is good and the bike is charging, and put some new plugs in after the carb clean.

How many spark plugs are there to change on my 2005 Honda VTX shadow ?

The stock two cylinder 583ccm engine on your VTX uses two spark plugs per cylinder for a total of FOUR. NGK #DPR6E is the stock plug. They should run about $11 a set.

best wishes!

I am purchasing a new VTX 1800T. I need to know

Should be on the frame of the bike near or on the same lable as the VIN as are the tire sizes and wheight recomodations. The tires also have their maxine and min. pressures on the tires. Generally the rear tire will have 42 PSI and the front can run 32 PSI Tuning the way the bike steers and takes bumps can be done with tire pressure except never go below 28 PSI and never go above the highest number on the tire itself. If the bike doesn't have the trires on it the came with it new the best thing is to call the tech line for the makers of the tires and ask them telling them the bike the loads its going to carry and the exate tire size and model that your talking about. The pressures in the manual and on the frame and the ones for the tires that didn't come with the bike may work OK but if there other tires get the tiremakers recomodations. Many tires run best and last longest with the high number on the tire, but sometimes ride a little harder than you like.

Electrical ... check points. You jmight want to run some carb cleaner through it ... change the plugs. Id look at the points or what ever turns the coil on and off, real close.
