I bought a used 2005 Kymco Super 9 50 cc scooter. The owner said it had been sitting unused for weeks. It ran fine Monday when I drove it home. And it ran fine Tuesday. After a day of use on Wednesday, the engine cut out when the traffic light changed from red to green. I pulled the scooter over, tried restarting it several times, and called a few mechanics. I then sat for five minutes and started it again. Drove it home. Started it in the driveway today, no problem, but didn't drive it out. I think it may be that the engine overheated after two days of heavy use following a period of no use. In that case, I may have to refill the cooling agent. The owner suggested that I remove the carburetor and clean it. What do you think the problem is? And what should I do? Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

Sounds like it overheated & seized, when you let it cool down, it started again. Two things to check is the coolant level, if very low then it could be a head gasket or waterpump seal problem.

The other is for two stroke oil, check the oil lever & that the two stroke pump is working. Previous owner could have been also running it on a pre-mix of oil & fuel in the tank, ask them about it.
