My 4 wheel combination brass lock is stuck in the open position and I have forgotten the combination. I have tried some of the suggestions but can't do it. Can anyone else advise please?
My 4 wheel combination brass lock is stuck in the open position and I have forgotten the combination. It is a Lockwood 4 wheel patent no: 6,176,109B1. I can't feel any resistance when I poke the clip down the hole even though all the wheels do move.

You can try to determine the combination by pulling on the shackle and moving the combination wheels until one of them clicks (or feels) different from the other numbers. Do the same for the other two number wheels. Lots of trial and error, but it has worked before.

Open the lock with the existing combination. Inside the outer panel, you will see a small lever that will push to the right, and **** in an upward position. With the lever cocked in this "learn" position, turn each wheel to line up the number you desire with the scribed line. Once all four wheels are parked on your chosen combination, flip the lever back into its "home" positon. Test the new combination a few times (and record it somewhere safe), before you close the lock up.
I don't know what you mean by open but locked, however, these locks can be changed to a new combination by sliding a stud inside the case (under the wheels) and holding it while setting new numbers on the wheels. I don't think this works unless you start with the wheels in the position of the old combination, though.
Check the MasterLock web site to see if they still offer to provide for forgotten combinations. Some years ago I got a combination for a standard rotary dial lock by providing the usual identification information plus a photo of the lock showing its serial number.
I just opened mine. I also knew the the password and the suitcase wasn't unlocking. If you are all sure that u know the password. Then put some oil in the lock. wait for 1 hour... This will help. If it doesn't work then.. Put the lock code and push the clips manually with a pait or scissors or a small blunt knife.. Don't worry the lock is just stuck. After all it's a vip and not samsonite
