My 1996 zx11 is not getting spark to the right bank #2 #3 plugs,i am getting current to the ignition coil leads(the green wire),all spark plug wires are new !! both ignition coils are new, starter solenoid is new,battery is fully charged ,only thing i can think of is the cdi box ??? any other ideas?
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
The voltage on the green wire must be pulsating when cranking/starting the bike, not steady. Confirm by similarly testing the voltage on the black wire on the left ignition coil. If the green still reads a constant voltage, then the CDI is faulty; to be more specific, most likely that the switching tansistor inside the CDI that drives the right ignition coil has shorted.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
Appreciate the postabck and update.
There is of course a constant +12 volts on the red wire with the ignition switch and engine kill active? Additionally, were you able to confirm that the AC voltage on the green wire is pulsating when cranking?
Would look forward to further updates.
Offhand, the ignition switch is an unlikely suspect. Â If it is defective, then even 1 & 2 would not fire, the starter motor would not crank, and there would be no +12 on the red wire.
On the ignition coil:since there is +12 on the red wire and pulsating voltage on the green wire  (when cranking), then the CDI is active / good;
remove the sparkplug caps of 2 & 3; do a spark test on the bare end of the sparkplug wires;
recheck that the sparkplug wires of 2 & 3 are deeply inserted into the coil;
temporarily swap the sparkplug wires, sparkplugs and the ignition coils (make do rig since mounting would be different).
On the new information about the bike:
Have you tried putting in back the old sparkplug wires of 1 & 4 to replace the new 2 & 3?"foul out my number 3 spark plug" - if # 2 is not fouling, then it would be a carb problem;
"bad starter solenoid" - agree, the internal contacts of the starter relay have temporarily fused together and separated when it cooled down.
And are the sparkplug wires the carbon type or wire type?
Pls do the spark test on the sparkplug wire ends (without cap) with the plugs removed.
For experimentation purposes, you could switch the black and green wire connection to the coils. Bike will not start but would confirm sparks, coil and CDI.
Possibly a bad (new) CDI. But the failure of the old and that on the new being on the same green wire is highly suspect. If I recall right, there is another green (with black stripe) wire coming from the CDI that goes to a relay/diode junction box. That wire and the junction box would be another concern and require looking over.
A most unlikely possibility but bear with me, check for sparks on 2 & 3 with the clutch lever pulled in and/or the sidestand folded up.
Pulser coil:purpose - to send trigger pulses to the CDI when to fire the ignition coils and by virtue of sequence, which coil;
wiring - normally connected by a yellow and a black (white white stripe) wire pair;
passive test - resistance check could be anywhere from 50 to 500 ohms depending on the manufacturer. Basic would be as long as not shorted (zero ohms) or open (infinity or no reading at all) should be good;
active test - should read pulsating ~ 0.5 AC volts when cranking or engine running.
Glad that things worked out. Enjoy and ride safe.

Usually answered in minutes!
thanks for the info but i still need some help!!! io replaced the cdi box and i am still having the same problem
while using a test light the light flickers when the starter butten is pushed
yes there is a constant 12v to the red wire with ignition on and kill switch active,and with the kill switch off their is no power. i was told by a friend of mine that it may be the ignition switch itself, does thios sound right to you? if so any way to check it cause i,m running out of parts to buy!!!
first i would like to thank for all your help really appreciate it, but let me tell you a lil history of the bike, when it was running..... it would always foul out my number 3 spark plug after about 2 days of riding, i would pull the plug it would be wet no oil just drowned in gas... easy fix pop a new plug in and i,m riding, well one day i went to start it and the bike kept turning over after i let mf finger off the starter button.... and even after i turned the key to the off position it kept going until the battery died, bad starter solenoid ? well after i recharged the battery over night on my way to get a new solenoid i tried to start it .. it fired right up only to run for a few min. then would die , so my next move was to pull the left side engine cover off and as to my surprise not excess oil but gas came out!!!! and every since then i have lost the spark in number 2 and 3 coil. i pulled the coil off and put it on my wifes bike zx750 and it works fine put it back on mine and i,m back to the same problem which is where i am now. hope this will help in helping me.. really confused
ok back to the drawing board, used a different test light with a new battery in bike....the green wire is constant 12v....... not pulsating, but i just but a new cdi box in !!!!!swapped wires, bought new plugs.....had to bring in a friend of mine to help with the constant 12v.. it would flash once on initinal crank but would remain constant after that, as the blk wire would flash at every rotation..switched black wire with green and yes spark was beautiful but put green back on .....well u can guess, is it possible to have gotten a bad cdi??
tried the clutch in and out and side stand up and down!!!! uum i have a shot gun that might work !!!! just a lil frustrated right now!!! i have since pulled the entire wiring harness off and have it laid out looking for anything out of the ordinary!!! i probably ned to go back to the basic!! ok ....... so lets start wit the pulsator coil on the sie left of the engine talk to me about that pls.
hey brother thanks for all the help but i finally have SPARK GLORAOUS SPARK!!!!!!!! i bypassed the connector to the cdi box and she fired right up!!!
Got a pitbike 125 its No Getting a spark just bought 2 new spark plugs thinking it was that but not ?
