Which size Jet Kit for 800 Vulcan Classic?

I don't know which size Jet Kit to install in my bike. The guy I bought my bike from put on the big Vance + Hines pipes, I think they’re 2 1/2", and I have been told I’ll need to fix the jet kit so the bike stops backfiring.

Also, will I need a higher flow model air filter?

Thanks.

General rule of thumb is to go up about 10 jet sizes, unfortunately it is a bit of trial and error, and you may have to swap out diferrent sizes to get the bike running right,(jets are quite cheap though)but first step about 10 sizes from standard, your local dealer should be able to tell you what jets are in it and supply replacements,if you change to a hgh flow aftermarket air filter you may have to change jet sizes again as changing the filter may effect the mixture ratio in the carbs,,hope this helps

Which setting do I use for the needle in my carb?

How many miles?? The needle jet/jet needle (brass kit) may need replacing ...they wear out due to vibration and cause the spark plugs to turn black, get poor milage, and then "carbon foul".
Try running it without the air filter for a few miles.. see if that makes it run better. If so, I would replace the air filter and put a new brass kit in the carburetor.
You can try moving the CLIP on the needle UP to the second to the top position, OR the top position..that will lean out the mixture/carburetor.

I have a 2000 vulcan 800 classic with the scootworks belt drive. This was installed when I bought the bike. Recently put on new tires and there is no adjustment to loosen the tension of the belt. Shop...

Belt tension would normally be adjusted at the rear wheel the same as a chain, if it is within spec though I would suggest you check the alignment as the belt may be pushing against the lip of the sprocket.

2005 vulcan 800 will only run with choke on cuts out when you give it gas

the pilot(idle) jet is clogged, need to do a good carb clean/rebuild(carb kit).that should take care of your problem.hope that helps.

I need to know if i have to re jet my 98 yamaha 650 v star if i put on the vance and hines cruzer exhaust just the exhaust nothing else. and also what type and size of jets to use

You can try driving the bike after the install. After you change the exhaust it will run lean. You may want to coat the inside of the mufflers with an anti blu-ing agent or your headers will discolor. If when test driving you notice the bike has developed a flat spot in the acceleration curve you will want to re-jet the carburetors. The easiest way is to buy a jet kit from Cobra, Dyna-jet,etc.($80-$100). Other wise you can just buy several sets of larger jets and change them out till you are happy with the way it runs. Most people that change the mufflers and put in a jet kit, also install a K&N air filter .
More air flow + fuel flow = more exhaust flow (more power)

I have a 1998 Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Classic. Which jets do I change if I'm changing my exhaust? What are the stock jets?

you need to change the big main jet. the stock size will be stamped on the jet. Go for one or two sizes bigger. Your motorcycle shop dealer will help you out when you buy the jets.

I have a 1998 Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Classic. I would like to know if an exhaust off a 2001 Vulcan 1500 will fit my bike?

The engines are the same, depending on model of the 2001 if its a classic then I'm sure it will, I would go to Vance & Hines's web site and check there fit on exhaust for a 1998 verses a 2001 you'll probably see that it carrys the same part number.
