I own a 1986 305 new model the one that runs on 405 engine and of late i have been having issues with the clutch. The issue is when the engine is cool the gears engage easily but as it heats up shifting gears becomes a nightmare even the clutch cable gets cut. We've changed the pressure plate several times still the same results. What could be the problem?

When you changed clutch plate, did you skim the flywheel? It may be polished and might need roughing up a bit.

SOURCE: New clutch cable made gear change much worse.

Hi,

Had a recent similar problem. Fortunately, my replacement cable is adjustable. As the new cable stretched, I had to take a crowbar to the the throwout lever next to the battery and lever it back while pulling off the cable (towards the battery). I then lifted the fuse box (look out for the 10mm plastic nut that holds it in on the side by the driver's side fender) on the drivers side right in front of the windshield to reach down and pull the cable up enough to reach the adjustor. When it is high enough, release the locknut and turn the adjusting nut upwards about 4 turns (both nuts on my cable were 17mm and a "stubby" is handy but not necessary. Grab the end by the battery and, making sure it is seated on the groove on the transmission, pry the lever again with the crowbar and reseat tg
he cable end in the lever. I have had to readjust the cable twice more before it settled in a comfortableplace, but once you get the hang of it, it only takes about 10 minutes.

Hope this is helpful.

SOURCE: replaced clutch in 3000GT, all new parts, plate,

Are you sure the clutch disc is installed in the correct direction?
Admittedly, I haven't seen the clutch disc for a Mitsubishi 3000GT, but I have seen my share in many makes of vehicles.

The clutch disc may be one of those that will install in either direction. Some clutch discs are made so that the inner hub with springs, can be installed towards the crankshaft, or towards the tranny.

2006 Mazda 6, 3.0. Why do my engine fans run all the time after car is off. The temp hands stays half way always.

There are a few potential reasons why your engine fans may be running all the time after you turn off your 2006 Mazda 6:
  1. Coolant temperature sensor: The coolant temperature sensor may be malfunctioning and sending incorrect signals to the engine control module. As a result, the fans may run continuously to try and keep the engine cool.
  2. Faulty fan relay: The fan relay controls when the fans turn on and off. If the relay is faulty, it can cause the fans to run all the time.
  3. Failed Engine Control Module (ECM): The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the engine fans and if it fails it can cause the fans to run constantly.
  4. Leak in the cooling system: A leak in the cooling system can cause the engine to overheat, which can cause the fans to run all the time.
  5. Stuck fan clutch: A fan clutch that is stuck in the "on" position can cause the fans to run all the time.
It's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose the issue. They will be able to identify the specific cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs. It is also important to keep an eye on the temperature gauge, if it's showing a high temperature and the fans are running all the time, it's important to stop the car as soon as possible and have it checked by a professional to avoid further damage.

206 w reg fitted new clutch but now have no biting point so car will not pull away help

Hello, Who installed the clutch"? Were there a new pressure plate installed? Were there a new throw out bearing installed. Does this 1991 Peugeot 405 have hydraulic or mechanical clutch linkage?
There a couple of reason why the Peugeot wont move and engine is running and the transmission is in gear.

1.. Pressure plate is installed backwards.--Remove transmission and reinstall pressure plate in the correct orientation to the clutch. There is two ways to install it, but one way correctly.

2. Adjustment for the clutch linkage from the pedal in the driver compartment is adjusted to tight and not releasing the clutch to where the clutch pressure is on the pressure plate.

I have a Fiat Palio 2002 and off late I find the gear shift getting stuck - means I cannot change gear when the engine is running. The gear is smooth when the engine is off.

the clutch plate is burnt and needs replacing.. Thats why it works when the car is cool or aint running. as soon as it gets hot,, the seal of the metal has burnt out.. meaning the metal binds making it hard to shift.. Change the clutch play,, you'll be fine!
