How to adjust carberator floats - 1996 Suzuki GSX 750 F (Katana)

something in the needle and seat preventing the needle from sealing off
could be float adjustment or in this case needle to diaphragm adjustment

you adjust it by bendng the small tab on the float that presses on the end of the float needle,to check it is right find a length of clear tubing and put it on the small pipe bit that is on the bottom of the float bowl ,then bend it around the carb and point it upward s,then undo the drain screw on the float bowl and the fuel will come up the pipe and when it stops that is the same level as the fuel in the float bowl.its usually about 2/3 of the way up the float bowl.to low and it can starve it of fuel and too high it will flood and leak out.

The floating chamber is not working properly!!! Disemble the caburator and adjust the floating chamber!

This sounds like the float is sticking in the carb causing it to flood . You need to take the carb off and clean it and put a kit in adjusting the float per the instructions

Fuel needle leaking in the carb, remove the float bowl, check the float is moving freely, clean away any dirt, if no better replace the inlet needle.

suggest removing carb and cleaning the float is located in the base of carb a good cleaning with carb clean should do the trick

Replace the auto petcock it's cheap rubber and degrades pretty fast.

With the float installed turn the carb upside down so the float is pointing up adjust the tab until you see the underside of the float is parrellel to the carberator's metal flat body section. This setting will provide the proper fuel level in the carb providing the proper maintained level of fuel for performance around tight turns as well as idling.

You have a problem with the carb float valve. It is no longer sealing causing fuel to continue to flow into the float bowl after it is full. It may be dirty, out of adjustment or just need to be replaced because old and worn out.

Yes it is either the float is sticking or the float lever is set to low so as not to shut off the gas. Hope this helps. donnyb60
