Does anybody know what is the valve clearance for inlet and outlet for this type of engine? ... Nissan Xterra Forum · Nissan Armada Forum · Nissan Frontier Forum ·Nissan Titan Forum ..... the head so they don't burn up, especially the exhaust valves.Tight exhaust valves are the #1 reason they burn up.

What is the valve adjustment order when setting valve lash on Isuzu 4jg2 engine

The tappet adjustment is 16thou or .4mm for both inlet and exhaust.
Remove the rocker cover.
Turn the engine over till the timing mark on the pulley lines up on the pin in the cover.
Try to move the rockers on no1...if they are loose and four are tight you are on TDC no1 other wise you are on TDC 4
If on TDC one,

From here you can adjust inlet exhaust on one, inlet two, exhaust three.

Turn the engine 360 degrees one will be tight and 4 will be loose...so now you can adjust both inlet and exhaust on 4, inlet on three and exhaust on two.

THERMOSTAT REMOVAL

HINT: Removal of the thermostat would have an adverse

effect causing a lowering of cooling efficiency. Do not remove

the thermostat, even if the engine tends to overheat.

1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER

HOSE

3. DISCONNECT ECT SW1TCH CONNECTORS

4. DISCONNECT ENGINE VIRE PROTECTOR FROM

WATER INLET AND RH CYLINDER HEAD

Remove the 2 nuts, and disconnect the engine wire

protector from the water inlet and cylinder head.

5. DISCONNECT WATER INLET PIPE FROM WATER

INLET AND LH CYLINDER HEAD

a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the inlet pipe from the

water inlet.

b) Remove the O-ring from the inlet pip e.

6. REMOVE WATER INLET AND THERMOSTAT

a) Remove the 3 nuts, water inlet and thermostat.

b) Remove the gasket from the thermostat.

INSPECTION

INSPECT THERMOSTAT

HINT: The thermostat is numbered with the valve opening

temperature.

a) immerse the thermostat in water and gradually heat the

water.

b) Check the valve opening temperature.

Valve opening temperature: 80 - 84CC (176- 183 deg f)

If the valve opening temperature is not as specified,

replace the thermostat.

c) Check the valve lift.

Valve lift: 10.0 mm (0.394 inch) or more at 95CC (203 deg f)

If the valve lift is not as specified, replace the

thermostatleedavidian_93.jpgleedavidian_92.jpg.

d) Check that the valve is fully closed when the

thermostat is at low temperatures (below 40CC (104CF)).

if not dosed, replace the thermostat.

INSTALLATION

1. PLACE THERMOSTAT IN WATER PUMP

a) Install a new gasket on to the thermostat.

b) Align the thermostat jiggle valve with the upper stud

bolt and insert the thermostat in the water inlet

housing.

HINT: The jiggle valve maybe set within 15 deg of either

side of the prescribed position.

2. INSTALL WATER INLET

Install the water inlet with the 3 nuts.

Torque: 8.0 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 inch lbs.)

3. INSTALL WATER INLET PIPE

a) Install a new O-ring to the water inlet pipe.

This nissan pickup was purchased at auction, #4 cyl. dead ran compression check 5 lbs. pressure, pulled head and found #4 exaust valve hadn't been closing for god knows how long, is there a lash setting or...

Valve might be bent , or valve guid too tight.
you need to ck if valve sliding free , fist.
if there is an adjustment needed on valves , all specs are on the hood lable.

Head stud torque

cyl head torqes.1st stage 29 nm. 2 nd stage 57-67 nm. 3rd stage slacken off 360 cegrees, 4th stage 29 nm. 5th stage 64-74 nm. intake and exhaust valve clearance .38 mm hot setting. hope it goes ok.

Engine oil leak

Oil leak it can be cylinder head cover gasket,or cover bolts is loose have look cylinder head cover try to tight first if not put new gasket cover.
