There is no Iac,here's a link to the throttle body. The air valve is calibrated at the factory and is not serviceable. No attempt should be made to remove it from the throttle body. If the air valve is defective, the throttle body must be replaced as an assembly. SAVE 20 ON ONLINE SHIP TO HOME ORDERS OF 100 OR MORE Here's another link to read. SOURCE: 1993 Toyota Camry IAC cleaning

1) remove the black intake hose from the throttle body
2) get a can of throttle body/intake cleaner
3) be VERY careful if you decide to use the straw included with the can of cleaner, it can detach and go inside of your intake manifold.
4) spray inside and use a rag to remove junk from throttle plate(front and back side), hold the straw on the cleaner can and spray into the hole just ahead of the throttle plate, let soak for 10 minutes or so
5) reattach intake hose and start engine - you may get black smoke/rough idle for a minute as junk exits the engine

The IAT on your Jeep should be located on the intake manifold, directly behind the throttle body. It will be a screw in sensor with a two wire plug.

Try cleaning the Throttle Body before replacing it. You can also clean the IAC. Poor idling is usually the Throttle body not closing properly.

Can the idle air control be tested

Idle Air Control Valve

Print

OPERATION

The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve adjusts the engine idle speed. The valve is located on the side of the throttle body. The valve is controlled by a duty cycle signal from the PCM and allows air to bypass the throttle plate in order to maintain the proper idle speed.
Do not attempt to clean the IAC valve. Carburetor tune-up cleaners or any type of solvent cleaners will damage the internal components of the valve.

TESTING

See Figure 1

0900c152801e4967.jpg enlarge_icon.gifenlarge_tooltip.gif

Fig. Fig. 1: The IAC can be monitored with an appropriate and Data-stream capable scan tool

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the IAC valve.
  3. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the valve.

Due to the diode in the solenoid, place the ohmmeter positive lead on the VPWR terminal and the negative lead on the ISC terminal.
  1. Resistance should be 6-13 ohms.
  2. If resistance is not within specification, the valve may be faulty.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Detach the IAC solenoid connector.
  3. Remove the 2 retaining bolts and remove the IAC solenoid and gasket from the throttle body.
  4. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Use a new gasket and tighten the retaining bolts to 71-97 inch lbs. (8-11 Nm).

If scraping is necessary to remove old gasket material, be careful not to damage the IAC solenoid or the throttle body gasket surfaces or drop material into the throttle body.

Have a 97 grand voyager 3.3 liter keeps stalling when you let off gas , have replaced fuel filter and plugs and wires still no change rpm,s are up and down then stalls , thought maybe was tps where is it...

It sounds like you have changed everything except the most likely cause of your engine idle problem....The Idle Air Control (IAC) It is located in the throttle body and looks like the picture below.

dttech_4.jpgAlso, to answer your question, TPS stands for Throttle Position Sensor. It is located in the same place on all cars...On the throttle body. No, it is not likely to cause the symptoms you are describing.

Location of the IAC value on a 2004 Ford F150 XLT pickup with an 8 cylinder Triton engine

The New Body Style 5.4 does not have an IAC, this is controlled by the throttle position motor on the side of the throttle body, and is operated by the PCM ( new body style is throttle by wire ).

If this is a 2004 Heritage or lightning ( the same body style as the 97-03 MY ) the IAC is on the back the throttle body, held on with 2 8mm screws. You would need to remove the plastic throttle body cover to get to it.

Have a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant and need intstuctions on how to replace the Idle Air Control Valve

You'll have to remove the throttle body to replace the idle air control (IAC) valve. First, disconnect the negative ground cable from the battery. Then remove the vacuum line and air duct intake. Then disconnect the IAC and throttle position sensor (TPS) electrical connections. Remove the coolant hoses that are connected to the IAC. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body. Now, remove the 4 bolts that hold the throttle body to the manifold and remove. Be careful with the gasket located between the throttle body and manifold and replace it in the same position. On your clean work surface, turn the throttle body over and remove the 4 phillips head screws holding the IAC to the throttle body. Clean the parts with a dry cloth but do not use solvents on the IAC or TPS. That's it!

Saturn 1999 sl Engine has a high idle speed. How do I find, replace, inspect IAC?

The Idle Air Control valve is located on the throttle body. If you follow the intake tube from your air filter all the way back to the intake manifold, where the intake tube connects to is the throttle body. Remove the intake tubing and you can see the throttle body.

There are two sensors on the throttle body and a vacuum line. You'll see two harnesses going to the throttle body, one is the IAC.

However, a quick diagnostic check can be done without touching the throttle body to confirm your problem. If the car has a normal idle when initially started but then rises to a higher idle and stays there BUT then if you were to shut the car off and restart it and it comes back to normal that is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). This is also located on the throttle body (the other sensor to the IAC). If it is the IAC it will be high and maybe fluctuate a bit.
