Adjust the idle mixture screw correctly
Thanks for your input will try and get the mix screw that's completely rounded from previous owner sorted and set it. Any idea what is the correct setting for it befor I go Google
this is what i get from a trip from work to home and also now bogs out after gear change and attempt to accelerate sometimes
the noise that I am hearing from your clip is a problem in the idle circuit of the carby
It is an inconsistent fuel supply to the idle circuit ( Jet blockage , damage wrong size jet in use , air leaks past the idle circuit)
This could be from a incorrect float level, damaged emulsion tube for the idle/main jet, bent idle screw, damaged seat for the idle screw or possible incorrect setting of the mixture screw
Can also be from worn throttle shaft of the accelerator that is allowing the air flow to alter the mixture settings
I might suggest that seeing as the mixture screw was damaged from a previous owner, You might be well advised to replace the carby with a known good unit or a new unit
That process will either eliminate the problem or prove that the problem is else where
Thanks sir
Have ordered a replacement mixture screw and will attempt to repair current one that's stuck and rounded
update. issue has now taken a weird turn. it only has the idle problem when its freezing outside. when the weather is not in the minus number it runs like a dream
could be a fuel freezing problem that is making the fuel viscosity too heavy to be properly mixed in the idle circuit
Carby icing up causing a further restriction in the idle circuit
Talk with accredited bike shop technicians or just set it at fast idle with the throttle setting until the engine reaches an operating temperature
thanks ill have a pop at it. thanks again for all you help

Check if you have gas?, see if the fuse is shot, should be on the bottom side of the gas tank, could be just a faulty spark plug, worse case scenario the pulse coil is shot or the stator
Testimonial: "Cheeers, turned out to be a blown fuse, fixed, back on road, brilliant. thanks for the quick response and perfect advice, again thanks "

the stalling is due to the rectifier (its a box under the plastics on the bike and has fins on it) if not this then possibly an air/fuel mixture problem but as with my old vl it was the rectifier

Did you sync the two carbs? If not the rear may be getting all the gas from the rear carb and none to the front. Twist throttle engine off and see if front carb cable is pulling the carb open.
Also unscrew the spark plug boot from the front spark plug wire and trim 1/8th inch off the wire and screw the boot back in. The plug wire end may be corroded on that wire.
SOURCE: how to change the oil and filter on suzuki classic
Get a filter wrench at walmart (plastic) or Auto zone type place, unscrew drain plug and after all is drained then take off filter. It works bette if you warm up the bike first so the oil is warm and flows better. The oil fill and dip stick is behind the rear chrome cover on the right side. Two allen screws to remove the cover. Check for no leaks by running her after you fill up with oil.

Also I may add that it dosent like to start unless it has decent amount of juice in the battery and will only then be bump started until I give the battery more charge. After cleaning the carb I noticed the mixture screw on it is completely rounded out from previous owner. Could this idle problem stem from mixture? If so I need to find out how to fix that screw that's rounded
go to a bike wreckers or manufacturers spares section and get a new mixture screw as to the adjustment, turn the screw all the way in until it touches the jet. Turn it out about 1 1/2 turns
Start the engine ( operate it until operating temperature ) and set the engine rpms around 700 on the throttle screw . turn the mixture screw out until you hear the rpms start to go down remember this point then turn the mixture screw in until the rpms again go down .count the number of turns between out and in and return the mixture screw to 1/2 way between out and in if the rpms have altered reset the throttle screw to the correct roms for idle and then turn the mixture screw slightly to obtain that center position again
I would be checking the ignition timing as well as hard starting can be too far advanced before TDC
you left out the details as to 2 stroke or 4 stroke
if it is 2 stroke , hard starting can also be from bad crank case seals as can be the problem you stated with the fluctuating idle and running
its a 4 stroke. may need a mechanic for the advanced stuff tbh
this is my issue after a ride from work to home and has now decided to bog down randomly after gear change and attempt to accelerate
