SOURCE: 1981 honda goldwing wont start
while trying to start an engine, and only the solenoid clicks, there are these 3 things- no juice from the battery, starter corroded contacts(the big cables) or starter is shot. so first make sure the battery is charged, next make sure the cable mounts from battery to starter are clean(no rust), if that is all good and doesnt start , remove starter and have it tested.

SOURCE: lost key to "81" honda goldwing GL1100 standard
hi, you are more likely to find the key code on 1 of the other locks on the bike like the seat lock, if you can remove the seat, and the lock, in the old days manufactors would put the code on the lock normaly wher you cant see it a good locksmith will make you a key if you take him the lock, paul

SOURCE: how to remove rear wheel on honda goldwing gl1100
Center stand the bike, loosen the rear axle nut, take out the bolt, knock out the spacer , lift the caliper assembly out of the way and hang it by a wire, grab the wheel, and slide it sideways away from the final drive. The wheel should slide right off the spline of the final drive and roll out the back under the fender. If the wheel wont slide past the final drive let the air out of the tire. Be sure to coat the spline of the final drive with moly60 paste from your local Honda dealer when reassembling
