SOURCE: hard starting 95 king quad 300

bad gas...caused carb contamination...probably water in the reserve part of the tank (which comes from ethanol separating in the gas...drain the tank (reserve side too)...open the drain screw on the bottom of the carb...re-fill and try again...

SOURCE: this is a suzuki king quad lt 300 atv. blows main power fuse when the regulator is plugged in and the switch off.unplug regulator and fuse don't blow.

This is easy - replace your regulator. You probably have one or more shorted diodes (or transistors) in the regulator and/or the bridge rectifier between the alternator and the battery.

Diodes 'convert' AC made by an alternator into "DC" used by the battery. It does this by clipping off one-half of the power cycle. You can check a diode for proper operation using a flash light battery, a flash light lamp and a short piece of wire. A normal diode will let current pass in only one direction - the light will light when wired one way and not light when reversed. If it lights in both directions, the diode is bad. I dont know how to test a transistor. The repair in either case is replacement of the part. You cannot change a diode or a transistor in either component. If the part is obsolete, you may have to have a part built by an electronics technician.

Good luck with your repair and thanks for your interest in FixYa.com
