Cant find a neutral switch to buy on the nett. Where Do you Get a new neutral switch?

up to 1997 it was still on the side of the gearbox
looks like it went full plastic after 1997

cant see why ford would change its location in 1998

I cant confirm where it is on a 98 4X4

My 99 taurus had the neutral safety switch on the steering column shaft (by the brake pedal) when your shift gear lever at the steering wheel to park it will allow you to start the engine. If your engine does not turn on in park your neutral safety switch is bad. It cost about $30 at O'Reilly's. word of caution disconnect your battery first, then pay close attention how you disconnected the bad nuetral switch. You will have to install the new one in the reverse order. take your time. Purchase the nuetral safety switch and look by your brake pedal to identify the nuetral safety switch by comparing it to the one you purchased. Don't forget to connect your battery after you have installed the new one. You will have to reprogram your radio favorite stations and your clock.

you have only 2 choices, a new switch (best) or take yours off
dismantle it, (done many) and clean it and see if the contacts inside
can be recovered. some can , some cant.,

its the neutral saftey switch on the side of your tranny it sounds like its bad if u buy a new one there is a clip on there dont pull it off because it sets the switch also the tranny needs to be in neutral when its on put on then the problem will be fixed and the indicator will read right

Just ignore the fact the new device does not have white neutral. While old device has neutral
Difference: The new device is rated for incandescent only, while the old device was rated all type of lights including cfl etc.

Neutral switch is defective also find wire to switch un plug and jumper across plug end to verify neutral light and cuircuit is operating properly

If I understand correctly you are replacing ordinary switch with switch-plug-GFCI device.
And one cable enters the box, and the cable has 1 black and 1 white and 1 ground wire.

To correctly wire combo GFCI device, you need a Neutral wire.
If your switch box has 1 cable, then it does not have a Neutral.
The neutral is required for GFCI operation, and also to power new outlet.

To test for Neutral wire:
Separate wires for testing.
Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Hot line wire from breaker box.
Hot is identified.
Test Hot wire to all other wires inside box, except bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Neutral wire.

> If switch box does not have Neutral, then device cannot be wired correctly.

sorry you cant you need to replace the switch as it will fail soon its not a hard job to do jack the body up and the switch is on top of the gearbox if you cant do it your self a half desent mecanic should not take longer than 1hour to change it the cheepest place i found for the switch is 4wd .com hope this helps

There are so many answers to this it would take a month to type them all. 1. Make sure you have sometype of connection to the laptop either Phone line or network cable or wireless signal. 2. Based on the connection available make sure you have the correct software for the connection installed. 3. If you have a network connection ensure you have setup a network connection on the laptop. If you are using the modem make sure you have the proper dial-up software installed and setup. 4. If you have no idea what I am talking about with any of this, I recommend you go to Best Buy or any other computer tech shop and ask them to set the connection up for you in order to make sure it is done correctly.

• Do you see spark? If not, check the side stand kill switch. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the side stand kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it.
• Is the handlebar kill switch on? Is it shorted out?
• Check the fuses.
• Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires?
• Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center or side casing.
• If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop.
