There could be several possible reasons why your gear is not selecting and your speedometer is not working in your Toyota Corolla 2005. Here are a few possible causes:
The gear shift cable may be disconnected or damaged. The gear shift cable connects the gear shift lever to the transmission, so if it is damaged or disconnected, it may cause problems with selecting gears.
The transmission itself may be damaged. If the transmission is damaged, it may cause issues with selecting gears and may also affect the operation of the speedometer.
The speedometer cable may be damaged or disconnected. The speedometer cable connects the transmission to the speedometer, so if it is damaged or disconnected, it may cause issues with the speedometer.
There may be a problem with the vehicle's wiring or electrical system. If there is a problem with the wiring or electrical system, it could cause issues with the gear selection and speedometer.
To accurately diagnose and fix these issues, it will be necessary to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic. They will be able to perform diagnostic tests and determine the root cause of the problem.
unscrew the cable from the transmission. if you can`t unscrew it,unbolt the lock bolt that holds the little bar which keeps the speedometer cable in place and remove the speedometer driven gear assembly from the transmission. the gear is plastic and is what the cable is driven by.
The cable is not fitting properly in the speedometer either on the transmission or the speedometer itself. If you push on the speedometer and it works than this is most likely the problem.
speedomter gear on inside transmission it can be replace take bolt out remove clamp then pull out . inspect cable it no bad unhook cable from trans. see if you can turn the cable . if not this it can be in the speedometer it self
The speedometer on your car is electronically operated and uses information from the Powertrain Control Module to control the speedometer readout. There isn't a cable or drive system that operates them anymore. Because of the large number of possible causes for your problem you'll most likely need to have the problem diagnosed at a Ford dealer or a competent auto repair facility as there just isn't much you can do on it yourself. Hope this helps!
