Electric mower gave off white smoke and refused to start again.
Most electrical appliances are fitted with a device to prevent them emitting radio frequency interference. Some such devices do not age well or resist spikes or surges in the supply.
The problem could be with that device. I notice they tend to produce white smoke when they fail, whereas wiring and motors, switches and suchlike tend to produce an altogether darker and more acrid smoke.
Testimonial: "Thanks for ur response. Probably surges in the supply. Mower was recently purchased so it still fairly new."
