Yamaha v star 650. With the tps sensor off the carb and not connected to anything. How many ohms should the tps sensor put out?

I would still think this is a carb issue. Most techs stink at properly rebuilding carbs because there are so many different kinds.

I however have spent 15 years honing my carb skills to perfection.

If the bike was purchased from a person at a higher altitude, main jet size might be incorrect. Or if it has modifications to the exhaust or intake - also main jet.

Contaminated or old fuel could also be a factor - have you drained the tank?

The TPS has to be set and checked with an olm meter. The TPS controls the CDI second timing curve which may have failed. I have seen this many times!
