86 V 65 Magna in near mint condition, ran perfectly a month ago now will only run at idle with the choke on. Only fires on two cylinders and as soon as you try to give it gas it dies. New filter.

Your carburator is gummed up !
Take the float bowl on the bottom of the carb and spray the main fuel jet out with cleaner, do this to the idle needle valve also. If that don't work pull the carb & take apart & soak overnight in parts cleaner & blow out all ports & orfices with compressed air.
Next time you store your generator with gas in it , use a fuel stabilizer !
Good luck !

Sounds like your carb. may be gummed up. Did you start the bike and let the carb. get stabilized fuel into it when you parked it?
SOURCE: bike will not idle witout having choke on a bit
I have a supermagna and used fuel stablizer once and it wasnt fit it gummed my carbs up,ive cleaned mine often and it isnt rocket science, remove the tank airbox assembly, loosen up the boot flanges that hook the carbs to the motor(ones on carb)then remove the carbs, then the cables, choke and throttle,do not remove carbs from assembly(leave all 4 together)remove the bottoms and tops of a carb, removefloat and jet, then remove all the brass jets and clean them so you can see through holes,,blow out all the holes in carbs, and reasemble, works for me every time, about two hours to do,good luck

hello I am Vortash .. I would say your problem is either blocked idler jets or incorrect fuel mixture ( Air to fuel not correct ) take the bike to your local garage to use their air line unless you have a compressor of your own remove the fuel feed tank side and blow it through with the airline if this don't cure it you will probably need to have the carbs tuned to manufacturesr spec's , If you are more mechanicaly minded strip the idler jets out pass a fine strip of wire through them and replace .You can also get this problem if you have an air leak on the maniflod or the carb bowl etc hope this helps regards Vortash

the throttle ports are dirty clean air filter and run some cleaner threw the caburator and lube the choke assembly and throttle cable and check for sticky plates, if they are not sticking clean out the intake ports with carburator fluid then adjust needle valves to run smooth and back the choke off as you adjust. once warm and plates are fully open and ideling rev it to see if it reves up, if not check for intake leak in the intake hose or throttle plate or carb screws. use starting fluid to locate intake leaks.
