Chassis numbers are purposely hidden and locations are secure information available to insurance and law enforcement only.

1996 Cherokees do not have air conditioning filters.

It is not etched into the Chassis just the 2 plaques

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate is located on the:

Lower windsheild fence, near the left A-pillar (look for an aluminium build plate revited to the wall).

The VIN contains 17 characters, which is a personal I.D. for your vehicle.

need to take that number to your dealer and proof of ownership they can provide the code for your radio

It's located along the rear driver's side chassis, right in front of the fuel tank.

The things which you will need while replacing the fuel filter are

G7399 Fram Fuel Filter
Small bucket
Ratchet
Socket set

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD 4.0L MFI 6cyl:
The Fuel Filter is located under vehicle, driver side, below bed area, front of fuel tank, mounted on chassis in fuel line.
