Check the coil pack. And the pick up in the crankcase near the chain. It's like a lawnmower. There is a magnetic pickup behind the case cover near the chain. Could also be a clogged carburetor. But not always likely. Go after the pickup and you should regain your spark.

SOURCE: only runs on full throttle

Are you saying full throttle, or full choke? if full throttle, you should be able to set the idle up. the idle screw will be the one when you give it gas, it will be the screw on you'r throttle linkage. If full choke, maybe the spark arrestor is plugged. You can remove it by removing the muffler. It would be between the muffler and cylinder head. You don't need this to run.I hope any thing I posted will help.

SOURCE: Scooter will not start

I had the same problem. the drain hose on the carb is supposed to have a little valve in it. it is meant to drain your carb when you winterize, HOWEVER, they fall off and fuel runs out. Screw a small bolt into the end of the hose and bingo- it runs.

Benelli velvet 125 fuel problem

it sounds like a fuel flow problem, either the carburettor float is not adjusted properly or it may have a blocked fuel filter, these also use a pneumatic fuel pump so its fuel is pumped using the vaccum pulled by the inlet manifold,so check the fuel pump pies have no splits and they are fitted tight .also try running it with the fuel cap loose or off to see if its pulling a vaccum in the fuel tank causing an air lock and stoppibg the fuel flowing.

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

Canadian bike 1991 Yamaha fj1200,50,000kms. engine sputtering at all speeds. Bike can be ridden (barely). No throtle response when cranked full from cruising speed. Fuel tank was drained & checked for...

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_152.gif

My yz 125 made a loud popping noise when i tried to kick it up now it wont start any suggestions

They can do this from time to time. What can happen is the expansion chamber gets pumped with fuel vapor and then can be ignited, causing a large backfire. I hate to attempt to answer your question with a question, but how old is the piston and ring? A ring won't last very long in a 125. For racing, it's changed every race. For joy riding 15-20 hours of run time and it's time for a ring at least. Weak compression can make it impossible to start. If you have perfect compression the cause for the non-start could be something as simple as a burned up or fouled spark plug.

Start by re-ringing the motor (you can do this for about $25 inside of 2 hours time). Clean the carb out, clean the air filter, fill the tank with fresh fuel and replace the spark plug (NGK B9ES - from Autozone for $1.89). If the bottom end of the engine is good, the above steps should get it fired up - providing your ignition system is good, and based on the apparent backfire, I would say you have spark.

1963 allstate 125 scooter will run like new than it won,t start even thought it's getting spark and gas

Hi! I assume your problem only applies when the engine is hot. This could be one of several things:
1 - bad seals 2 - broken engine body (heat expands it and lets air in / compression out) 3 - related to above, but happening on top end (cylinder/head)
All these are hard to fix at home, but there it could also be related to a carb problem... imagine your scooter is running too rich, it will run ok for the first kms, but after you stop and because the plug is dirty and/or the engine is flooded, it wont start anymore.
When this happened did you check the sparkplug look (is it dark? dry or oily?)
Hope this helps! Regards

Sputters and stops running.

Since it still starts and runs, i would try to save money and buy a bottle of Techroline (Chevron) gas additive and put in1/2 bottle w/full tank of gas. By the 2nd tankful and 2nd half of bottle you should notice a big improvement, but if no change take it to a competent scooter mech....Good Luck to you friend.....tim
