Any of the following engine oil types are recommended by the manufacturer:
SAE10W30
SAE10W40
SAE15W40
SAE20W40
SAE20W50
Selecting a type from above depends on the climate you ride in. SAE10W40 is considered to be the most universal oil for all climates. SAE20W50 would only be used for very hot climates or track days. Just make sure it states ‘4-stroke’ on the label and you can’t go far wrong.
Note: you should also select a grade of API service SE, SF, or SG.
For a full oil replacement (inc. filter), you will require 2.8 litres (or 2.96 US qt), or slightly less if you do not intend to replace the oil filter.
I use PUTOLINE ESTER TECH SYNTEC 4+ 10W40... a little bit more pricey than others, but it's quality stuff. No point in feeding your kids gruel, when there's steak in the frying pan!!
Motul semi synthetic or full, elf semi or full synthetic, but must be specific for bikes
