Question about 2007 TN'G Milano 150

1 Answer

Loss of power

The drive belt was recently changed out by the dealer. About 100 Km later the drive belt broke (shredded) and I replaced it myself because the dealer had gone out of business. At that time I also removed the kick starter because I thought that was the culprit. Now I experience loss of power after riding it for a while. I am thinking either the clutch is slipping or the drive belt is slipping. Why?

I need to know why my truck is shredding serpentine belts

it is difficult to diagnose a fault without direct access to a vehicle but can Iask where any of the components driven by the belt are tightening up, i.e. beginning to wear or seize. If one of the periheral components being driven by the belt is not rotating freely it will be acting on the belt as a brake. The forces on the belt will be out of balance. If all pulleys rotate freely there should be no abnormal friction so no snapping. Where the belt is being driven (by the crank?) and it is slowed down by a pully that is not rotating as freely as it should that will introduce forces that will destroy the belt.
It may be that your vehicle is about to experience component failure and the snapping of the belt is a symptom of it

We just replaced the belt on the dryer and a week later it broke, shredded

Check all pulleys turn. One pulley must be shredding the belt. Possibly the idler. Bearing might be seized in the idler pulley. Free up the idler bearing then.

Timing belt broke while driving car what internal damage should i check for before trying to replace belt

I'd recommend doing a web (or dealer) search for your specific engine to see if it's an "interference" engine. An interference engine is one where the intake or exhaust valves could come in contact with the pistons if the timing belt were to break. If your engine is NOT an interference engine, you can start to swap out the timing belt with no worries. If it IS an interference engine, and the timing belt broke while you were driving, there could be a great deal of internal damage. It's hard to estimate what the damage could be... it could range from zero damage (unlikely), to broken valves and pistons. You could do a compression test on each cylinder before replacing the belt.

Good luck.

2004 Ford Focus LX, was sputtering while driving

A flashing light is BAD. Its damaging the cat converter. I would check or replace the spark plug wires ( if all OK, then) replace the coil pack. I would not replace anything unless they test bad. but these car are known for bad coil packs.
