I've had this mower for 4 yrs have never had problem as follows. I hit a rock and when I disengaged the clutch control lever for the blades, the blades would not disengage, the clutch control lever was loose. I turn off the mower, then turn back on, the blades are disengaged. I replaced the blades (blades are balanced) and same problem. Blades will engage with lever but not disengage and the clutch control lever is loose (not binding) when I disengage the lever. Turn off mower, turn back on, blades are disengaged. What do I need to look at to have clutch control work properly...Thankyou, Regards, Clint Denson
This is too late, but for the next person: There is an extension spring around the cable attached to the blade engage/disengage lever.
On my tractor one end of the spring had the hook broken off or it. Because it is around the cable it is still in place but doesn't stretch when you engage the blade (so can't pull the pulley out and slacken the belt when you disengage).
The replacement is a few dollars and can be bought on ebay or Amazon.
Sounds like the shear bolt is broken, Do you have and owners manual to show you the location of shear bolt? They are easily replaced.
