With the forks compressed all the way, You can fill each fork leg about 6 inches from the top. You can use a siphon device or your moms turkey baster to siphon the oil out until you reach the 6 inch mark.
Having removed the forks, you will need to undo the lower damper bolt first, this is located on the recess inside the fork where. The spindle goes through, this will then alow you to remove the oil from the fork, and the leg will then be free from the stancion moving freely down, if the fork doesnot come apart, you will have to remove the retaining clip from the seal and pull the fork apart sliding the fork leg up the stancion and sharply pulling down on it to pull the seal out, repeat this till theseal comes out, (tip) undo the fork top nut while the forks are still fitted to the bike.
you will need to remove the top cap off the forks to do this and the spring will just pull out thats on the conventional forks if they are the usd the same applys but you will need to undo the top cap from the centre stem with spanners to remove the spring hope this helps

Remove front wheel. Loosen fork tube clamps at top and bottom of triple clamps. Slide fork tubes out and remove. Access to seals is from top of tube. Remove cover and unscrew cap. Shop manual for specific bike is $24-$30. Will show detailed instructions.
This all depends on what size forks you have, but a good rule of thumb is 120ml. After that then what you want to do is to ride the bike and make adjustments to your front end until your liking.
