I decided to play with it. I sat on the bike and pushed my self backwards in gear. I did it a few times forward and backward. On the backward I would tap the tor petal down a few times. It finally gave. I will be careful on the shifter in the future...no heavy taps

It's not going past 3rd gear. Clutch works great, through all 3 gears. Then when 4th is selected, I get nothing, like neutral

  • lloydainey Jun 30, 2019

earlier typo. "stuck in 5th gear"...which it is not any more

By the way. if anybody wants a copy...I have a complete Yamaha AVS650 service manual in PDF

Possible shifter fork in the tranny is broken. Also inside the engine there is a little lever that pulls on a pin when shifting. That pin could be broken. Also pull in the clutch lever and try to push the bike if it moves then the clutches aren't stuck together if it doesn't move freely then its possibly a set of stuck clutch plates. That's a simple fix.

SOURCE: 1999 Yamaha Vstar 650 Custom ...makes clicking noise when trned

i use a jump box on mine most weekends when i wanna take it out, i hook the red to battery and black onto my exhaust and it fires right up no problem. is the clicking noise coming from the fuel pump behind the ignition? it should click for a few seconds then stop. if it stays on then you are not getting enough fuel outta the tank, change the fuel filter and if bike had been stored for winter get a good fuel system cleaner, additive type. if in USA get Berrymans B12, double dose get bike to run hopefully let it stand overnight and all should be fine. fingers crossed. if is is clicking from somewhere else like starter or a relay by the battery, check all the ground terminals you can find

SOURCE: NEED TO REPLACE REAR TIRE YAMHA VSTAR 650 2000

A service manual is a valuable tool with an aging bike. I suggest the dealer/mfr. or Clymer books. In the meantime, go to the library reference section...646 stacks should have what you need.

2009 v star classic 650 carburater toekes

Well first off, the word 'Yamaha' is missing.
It is not in the correct year make model category.
Third, the word is 'carburetor'.
But the main issue is what on earth is a 'toekes'??
I also don't see a question?

I was driving my 2009 yamaha vstar 650 classic yesterday, and the speedometer stopped working. I stopped, I noticed the speedometer cable had come loose. I tightened back, but nothing! What do I do?

Check if the cable is not broken by twisting the inner cable anticlockwise and observe the speedo to see if it moves.
If ok, put it back on the wheel, making sure that the pin with flats is in the groove and tighten the nut. Good idea to pull the inner cable out and grease it with a light grease.
Good luck.
