Question about 2005 Kymco Venox 250
I have a problem which people keep on saying it is vapor lock. I have a bike called Venox 250 by Kymco. What happen was that sometimes at speed, the engine dies for no reason. It was as if there was no gas going into the engine. It couldn't be the ignition because it is a v-twin. Most of the time the problem does not occur, but if it happens I could ride a mile and then dies. Even when I rode it on 1st gear or 2nd gear once the stalling started to happen, the bike will stall every other mile. Is this vapor lock? Sometimes by opening the gas cap and closing it helped. I also noticed that whenever I open the gas cap, I could feel the vacum holding the cap down. If this is vapor lock, how do I go about fixing it? I don't want it to die while I am on a causway w/o a soulder. The bike is an 06 so it is out of warrenty. The shop was no help at all.
Google " vapor lock " and read the wikipedia definition. Your problem could be vapor lock but I think it is a vacuum problem. If no air can get into the gas tank then fuel can't get out. Most gas caps have a vent aspect built into the cap. Ride your bike with the cap loose. If the problem disappears you now know the source.

First thing to do is inspect gas tank cap. it sounds like its not allowing air in. replace the cap, as it is inexpensive, or to save money, just drill a small hole, like 1/16, through the cap, to let air in.
