I had a Honda 750 and it had a bolt at the rear of the seat and a key lock on the left side that released it. Also my Yamaha Roadstar was the same way. Good luck.
Is the battery good? Try the headlight while you crank the engine (I don't know what an m50 is so...) If the headlight goes dim or out when you crank, the battery is shot, has a bad ground, or connection to the starter. The starter relay, ignition circuit to the relay etc. could be faulty. Pull on the wires while you crank, sometimes that helps identify the problem.
I am having issues with my 2008 Suzuki boulevard m50 my fuel gauge doesn't work and my Neutral light doesn't work and my horn doesn't work I found a blown fuse and replaced it but that didn't fix it I am need of a oil change Suzuki saids to use 10w40 what another oil would work
When jump starting a motorcycle, make sure the other vehicle is OFF (not running). Check your fuses...you most likely blew one during the jump start process.
