Hi, as long as the engine had has got no loud knocking noises you should be ok as these engines are one of the best they made.

Check for any oil leaks if their are any get them sorted this will ensure you have correct oil pressure whilst driving.

Give it a good service if it hasnt had one recently its best to service say once every 6 months depending on how much driving you do.

When doing a service use high milage oil as this protects the engine and stops any leaks from becoming to bad it is a good option buying more expensive oil this will help prolong the life of the engine.

its also a good idea to buy a fuel cleaner this can be brought from most petrol stations make sure you buy correct type ie for a diesel im not saying you wont but alot of people just pick up the first they see then the car breaks down.
These fuel cleaners work through the fuel system ensuring that it is all clean and ensure that your car is running at its best use this every 3 or 4 months.
Other than that just keep it serviced regular and you should never have any problems these engines pretty much last forever and its a good choice of car to buy.

Let me know if you need further assistance ok

1998 adui a4 oil ligth come on oil level OK th oil has just being change

If no noises from engine it's likely possible that the oil pressure switch went bad. If you don't change you oil often there's a possibility that there may be sludge build up and possibly clogging the pick up. If you go more than the recommended amount of mileage/time between oil changes I would recommend an engine flush.

Gas milage and idle rpm

new engine might already be experiencing "blow-by".
search for a manual and check compression values. then have a mechanic perform a compression test on your engine. if result is much lower than expected, then try replacing piston rings, valve guides, and valve seals

Car wont start after replacing spark plugs

Make sure the plugs you bought are compatable to your engine. I changed plugs in a chevy truck with some high dollar plugs the auto store sold me saying they would boost my fuel milage and all that other stuff only to have the truck bearly start and when it did it ran like ****. Droped the manufacture recomended in and it solved the problem.
then make sure you did not get the fireing order mixed up. after that check your coils or distributer what ever you may have. Hope it starts.

In changing the oil, how many quarts are needed? What oil is recomended?

Look in the owners manual in the glove box under fluids, that will tell you. If you don't have one-------- about 4 to 4 1/2 qts. with filter 5w/30 high milage oil, can use pennzoil, mobile, quaker state, any known brand.
