I bought a 2006 harley and it has a vance hines fuel pak installed. i need instructions for the use of this item

have you added any after market parts?
new exhaust or high flow filters new to have your system remapped even if they tell you it isn't needed.
I recommend getting a fuel pak from vance and hines or something similar so you can do it yourself. Much cheaper in the long run

I've heard great things about the Terry components tuner but havnt used one yet. If u plan on doing any motor work or anything in the future I would use the hd super tuner. The power commander is also really nice and there are alot of maps available online for free. If u have a local dealer or shop u like using, see what they prefer to tune with on their dyno, that way if u have an issue with the bike they will be familiar with the component. Good luck!

Now, I don't know a lot about the electronic fuel injection systems on Harleys but I would guess that there would be an engine temperature sensor on the engine somewhere that would tell the computer that the engine is cold and to enrichen the mixture. The engine should go into high idle speed until the temperature comes up to a certain point as well.

Honestly the best way to do it is t get the bike on a Dynomometer and have it adjusted that way to assure your HC (hydrocarbons) are in the 14.4 range, plus they can make sure you are getting the maximum horsepower out of all the money you put in to it.
Typically for the cost effective way is to get the disc or go to VH's website and see if you can download a map from there, but sometimes these can get you close, but not optimum.

It probably isn't oil, it's more than likely fuel mixed with carbon due to running too rich. check your settings on the fuel pak.
