How do I adjust the headlights. I just bought this bike and it seems the headlights don't shine far enough in front of the bike.

Generally on headlights, there is going to be 2 adjusting screws. You can tell them because they don't match the other screws holding the headlight in place. If you need to take off the outer ring to gain access to them. Stand the bike back around 30 feet and draw a horizontal line in tape ( usually against a garage door ) approx, 36" from the ground. Line up the headlight with that line and you should be good to go. 1 screw is generally a horizontal adjustment and the other is a vertical adjusting screw.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I had to take whole assembly off and found one of the screws had disengaged from the nut. Once corrected I can now see really well at night."

Adjusting headlights

You should not try to adjust the headlights yourself because if you get them to where they shine in other drivers eyes when going down the road you could be fined for it.If you don't know how or where the beams should shine you could make it worse, they have to be a certain hieght and a certain angle.

If you look on the back of the headlights, there should be two screws(should be phillips) on the outer upper corner, and inner lower corners of each light. just park it about 20 feet from a flat wall, and have someone about the same weight as you sit on the bike upright, and adjust as needed.

Headlights shining high are the bulbs upside down

it's very difficult to install them upside down, but i guess anything is possible. wait until dusk, shine the lights on a flat surface and attempt to adjust until the lights look like they are shining in the center.

Headlights need adjusting

The headlights will have small rods or adjusting screws located near the headlight mounting points. Will probably need a torx socket or screwdriver to adjust. Torx is a 6 point type screw.

Headlight adjustment

Make sure the bulb is correctly seated in the housing. I had the same problem with mine and it turns out the previous owner didn't seat the H3 bulb correctly so it wasn't lined up 100% so it wasn't getting aimed correctly within the projector.,,

Headlight adjustment

he airbox will come off pretty easy you have to pulle off the breatherhose from under the airbox it goes behind the rear cylinder. also the funnels on the injectors need to be taken off. I am not sure what kind of funnels there are on a 748 compared to a 996, but you on a 996, you only have to twist them for a 1/4 turn, no more, and then pull, pretty hard, to get them off.,,,
