SOURCE: my honda cbr 600 wont start and keeps backfireing

Check your plugs. If all four are sparking then your carbs are out of sync. They will need to be re-balanced.

If you are capabable in doing this job your self, you will need a screwdriver that fits your adjuster screws and a CarbTune Carb balancer.
Remove your tank and airbox.
You should see the flaps inside your carbs. These should open when you move your throttle.
Start on the outside carbs to get them balanced with the 2 centre ones.
To start, unscrew the adjusters all the way out. then screw them in until the 2 outer carbs move at the same time as the inner 2 carbs
Once this is done then adjust the centre balancer to syncronise the 2 left hand carbs to the 2 right hand carbs.
Now if you have done this correctly, all four carbs should open at the exact same time.
If you have a Carbtune balancer, remove the plugs from the top of your inlet manifold and plug in the hoses from the carbtune balancer.
Start the engine and adjust the screws until the weights inside the Carbtune balancer all read the same.
Once done, remove the balancer, replace the plugs into the inlet manifold, refit the airbox and tank and it should run so much better.

If your not 100% confident to unertake this job yourself, take the bike to your local dealer and ask to have the carbs balanced.

My cbr 600 f2 1993 had been sitting for a long time

Sounds like the carbs were not properly cleaned or set up. Choke should cause the cold start rpms to be higher than what you are experiencing. Application of choke to a warmed up engine will usually cause the engine to stall.

What can cause my honda 600 rr to lose power

Hi im having this problem too, its happening on my CBR 600 f2 1995, it usually happens when I give it some between the revs 6000 - 11000 it feels as though the engine cuts out then back on, it only happens for a split second, I have recently had a new regulator rectifier fitted along with a new battery could this be causing the problem, its only happened since then. Also its only happened since I last filled up with fuel, could it be a dodgy batch of fuel?

Fuel pump pressure

In my experiences over the years pressure testing the carbs and messing with the fuel pump, I have never actually tested the pump output. Knowing that the average pop off pressure of the float valve on the float is 10-13 psi, this being tested via hand held pressure gauge to ensure no leaks before installation on the bike. I assume that the fuel pressure coming from the pump should not exceed the pop off pressure or it could cause the carbs to leak though and the bike would run rich. Hope this helps out.
