1998 rmx 250 lacking power

1998 rmx 250. was going well - pulled hard when powerband hit, although not so noticeable in first. other gears all good. has got progressively worse.. lacking power in all gears now. Still makes plenty of noise, but no real pull. have to kick down to fourth or even third to keep speed up. any ideas?

Sounds like you lost compression, maybe it could e fixed with a valve readjustment or bad rings.

I have a 1998 rmx 250 and have water in the gear box oil is it just a seal cause theres no visable cracks anywhere....i have ordered a new seal and sharft

If this is the four stroke version, the most likely cause for water in the oil would be a blown cylinder head gasket. Unfortunately the only repair in that case is a head skim and gasket replacement.

When im in 5th gear and the powerband kicks in the bike shifts back in 4th

keep your foot clear of the shift lever. It cannot shifton its own because the gear train is under a load and more so when the power band kicks in.

My 2003 KTM SX 200 lacking bottom end, top just rebuilt

isn't that a two-stroke? pull the jug off and check the piston/bore...if you can do that you're okay...Otherwise, call "Lazarus" at GT Thunder in Millersburg, FL and ask NICELY what to do.
P.S. he's a BUSY man be NICE to him!

Problem with the powerband on my kx250

sounds like you need a new power valve in the cylinder. They can go bad and thats how they will act. You have to take the cylinder off to change it. If your that far you might as well put a new piston and ring in it.
