Sounds like your starter switch. This also turns the headlight off when starting, check it completely

My honda vtx 1300 was just running went back out and turned key on and have no head light but all other lights and horn works nothing happens when i hit the start button

Sounds like a fuse let go!
Get an ohm meter and check your fuses. They should read 0 ohms (or whatever the meter reads when the leads are touched together)
Remember to pull the fuses first before testing them.
I'd check all the fuses while you're there.

If that doesn't show anything wrong, then check the ignition switch itself. Turn it on and off and wiggle it a bit. If the headlight flickers, there's something wrong in the switch, and you'll probably need to pull and clean or possibly replace it.

My 2005 Honda VTX 1300 R Motorcyle sputters and won't start with kick stand down, neutral light wont come on, I changed the plugs and cleaned off the ground wire.

sounds like a problem with the sidestand switch. look for the sensor located at the top of the sidestand, when up it pushes in a sensor.

How long should brakes last on a vtx 1300

That depends a lot on how hard you are on them IE: your riding style.. Some riders may get 30,000 miles out of a set of brakes whereas others may need to replace them after 5,000 miles.

Bike not starting?

First off, check your kill switch. A embarassing but frequent downfall of even the most experienced of riders.

If that is not it, please check for power on both sides of your starter solenoid. One side will be hot all the time and the other hot only with the start button depressed.

Let me know what you find ... I want to help you solve this problem ... I'm really pretty good at it, BTW.
