Your idle speed is pretty low. Adjust the idle screw on the throttle linkage until it is idling around 700-800rpm.

I have a 1984 prelude that will not idle, sometimes it will idle at 1500-2000 rpms for a short time then drop down and die. It does rough idle at around 800 sometimes

while running try spraying starter fluid around intake manifold if any change you have vacuume leak. most likely the ecm says i have to much air so that is why it dies it changes gas and air flow

POSSIBLE CAUSES COULD BE WATER IN GAS,FAULTY IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, OR FUEL PUMP COULD BE FAILING.CODE SCAN FOR EGR VALVE FAULT OR INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR.

Engine idles rough at red lights begins loping rpms drop to almost killing, then cycles back to normal, then repeats rough idle drop in rpms and loping, back and forth until I rev engine or take off

You could have a clogged fuel filter, if you haven't changed it in awhile. You could have a leak in the intake system somwhere also. When you slow down, you get less power to the engine. It may need spark plugs and wires as well, if in need for a tune up.

You name it ive done it!!!! I have a 99 regal with the 3800 series 2 and it is running rough either at idle oe driving and every once in awhile it will just die but starts right back !!! any ideas?

I have a 1988 Buick Century and was having trouble diagnosing a similar issue. $70 and an idle air motor (really looks more like a solenoid-driven valve) solved 60% of the problem...still working on the lagging on the high end, but driving it every day. Good luck!

could be a number of things. timing may be off. timing chain could have jumped but then you would have lack of power and backfire. could have a vacuum leak. throttle body have carbon buildup around the butterfly valves? Valve problems. compression problems. many things. Hope its nothing major I know I am not being much help but those are some things to look at.

Sounds like carb idle air or fuel jets are clogged.. Test pressure with a gauge to be sure. Float level and drop needs to be exact.. Operation of the whole carb relies on this. Probably why you are not getting any change in your air/fuel adjustments.

Check for Vacuum Leaks. Just found one yesterday on my 88. spray carb cleaner around engine bay while running and listen for whistling sounds. if rpm goes up vacuum leak in area you sprayed get a strong light and look for cracks breaks or holes. hope this helps!

Think electrical 1st -the weakest link-bet u havnt had tuneup since yr 1000-inspect plug wires for wear n take off dist cap n look inside-scarry!--of course chec fuel system also in gas tank area
