Only runs half throttle

The engine only runs half throttle smokes blue and sometimes black it has a new carb if u let off the gas it dies immediatly

It sounds like your fuel ratio is out, too much oil. What mixture are you using? My guess is your plug is fouling & at idle the spark is too weak to run. Use a fully synthetic oil at 50:1. Also check your float level.

Also it could be nothing to do with fuel. Who diagnosed the carby as the original issue? It could be a problem with your ignition. Weak spark can cause these symptoms too as it's not burning the fuel correctly.

So, can you tell me what kind of carb was on the bike before? was it factory? and what kind of carb was just installed? blue smoke can be caused by burning transmission oil or a rich fuel mixture. that might be a bad crank seal or case gasket, or just improper fuel/oil ratio or improper jetting. black smoke on the other hand is usually caused by too much gasoline burning, but if there were enough gas entering the engine to cause black smoke, the bike probably wouldnt run at all. but, if you can give me more info on the carb swap, and if possible any jetting information or jetting changes, thenI can definitely tell you what your problem is.

1987 Toyota new carburetor starts right up then dies but cranks right back up

Sounds like the float level is too low. I assume your pumping the gas pedal to start. This is where the gas allowing the engine to turn over until it uses up the small amount of fuel you added by pumping.

Gas will not flow from tank to motor while running

Everybody had a crack at this problem, another thing would check is these engines sometimes have a primary fuel filter inside the tank itself. Drain the fuel and gently blow compressed air back through fuel line towards tank then rinse the tank out with fuel, refill and try run engine again

I need help with my B/S Engine. Lack of power and black smoke coming from the exhaust.

If the plugs are ok and your engine is not smoking after starting and running ..Sounds like either of three things..all with the carburetor .First the carb has a adjustment screw for air/gas mixture on the side if the carb where it attaches to the engine..try this start the engine and at about half throttle..now adjust the screw clockwise until the engine starts to miss and bogg down then back the other way until it starts missing and bogging again. Then slowly adjust back and forth until you hear the engine run the smoothest..give it more throttle if it starts to run rough do the same procedure until you get the results you want..if it is the mixture problem this will take care of it..if this doesn't it it may be your fuel jet in the bowl dirty or the blow float sticking..if you are not familiar with carbs best to have a professional look at it..you can drop the bowl by removing the bottom bowl and clean it out...check to see if the float easly moves up and down..replace the bowl and go from there..worse scenario new or rebuilt carb...good luck..

My Weed Eater FL1500LE gas leaf blower will not run beyond the full choke setting. If I move the lever to half choke the engine will stop. Or if I move the throttle from full throttle to a lower speed...

This is a tell tale sign of a lean fuel mixture. By choking the unit you are manually creating a richer fuel mixture. I would purchase a compression tester from a local parts store and check compression. If that's ok, I'm willing to bet the problem is still carb related. Two stroke carbs are tricky to clean because of high/low ports that are one way and sometimes impossible to clean. Did you remove high and low needles when cleaning carb? Another trick is to mix seafoam with your gas, then mix two cycle oil to proper ratio. Use 2 ounces seafoam to one gallon of gas, then mix two cycle oil to proper mix. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy wrenching!

Have 82 ford truck f150 runs for abut 5-15 mins than dies getin gas chang full pups two times same thant runs and die

Hmmm...maybe piston ring failure, valve seal failure, rich air/fuel mixture or maybe a head gasket (however that is normally white smoke due to coolant burning instead of oil). If it's so dark that it's almost blue then I can tell you that somehow oil is getting into the cylinder and burning alongside the air and fuel. Your best case scenario is that the engine is running rich (Rich:Too much fuel, Lean:Too much air) and the smoke is a dark grey to black color. CAUSES OF SMOKE

Go Cart. Starts and runs only on full choke. 4 cycle, gas. Open choke, and engine dies. Sat for over a year. New gas, throttle working, spark ok. Can't find any air leak; carb never off of engine.

Remove the carb, then the float bowl at the bottom of the carb then clean the carb with spray carb cleaner. Spray into each and every drill hole and jet you can find. Use goggles so you don't accidently get cleaner in your eyes. Please, rate my answer, thanks. Reset the air and throttle screws, one and one half turns outward from a lightly seated position. Please, rate my answer. Thanks.

Durango starts sometimes. then acts like its getting no gas and dies. if i stomp on gas it will keep running till i let off. bad gas ? fuel filter ? fuel pump?

I would suggest starting with the less expensive solutions first. If you pull the air intake hose off the throttle body and open the throttle with the engine off look down inside if it is black try spraying it out with throttle body cleaner make sure to spray it out good. Afterwards start it you may have to keep your foot on the gas for a few minutes to make sure it doesn't stall then take your foot off the gas pedal and see if it stays running if it does your throttle body just needed cleaned. Note do not use carb cleaner use throttle body cleaner only, carb cleaner can damage the sensor in your throttle body.

87 325 runs good when

It's the automatic choke!

The choke is "closed" or barely open... When cold, the engine needs a RICH mixture (more gasoline, less air). When the engine warms up, it requires a LEAN mixture (less gas, more air).

It is probably creating BLACK tailpipe smoke ... that means unburnt gasoline. (Blue smoke is OIL, white smoke is WATER).

Put the parking / emergency brake ON.
1. Remove air cleaner assembly from intake, use a carb cleaner spray or throttle body spray cleaner and spray just a little. (AutoZone $5)
2. Find the accelerator2.gif arm under the hood.
3. start car, rev the engine to make sure how to operate the accelerator from under the hood.
4. Carefully spray into carb / throttle body and work the accelerator ... don't let the engine die...
5. Watch out for "backfire"... it may create a small flame out of the carb. It will extinguish itself in one second.

6. You may need to do this two, three times.
7. Add a "complete fuel system2.gif cleaner" to your next tank of gas ($8).

That's it! ... pretty cheap, too.

Hope this helps!
