Well, something is going on in the clutch hub, maybe the clutch rod bearing.

I have a 2000 r1150gs and when i take off in first gear, i get this spring and knock noise like the kickstand is automatically coming up kinda sound. 23k on the motor.

I've always gotten the same type of noise you describe after I take off in first gear after starting the bike. This is my ABS brake system setting up and is totally normal.

No problem but I have a general question. I ride a 2000 R1150 GS and I have put 65,000 miles on it since new. I'm thinking there has to be a known by experience maximum mileage point for these engines...

hi,my GS1150 has 180000k's on clock and is in daily use and probably has never missed a beat. I believe i am looking at another 100,000 by the sound of my engine

I have recently brought a 2000 r1150gs bmw, after riding for a while the clutch seems to make a knocking noise when the clutch lever is pulled in. is this normal or is there somthing more sinister going...

look at your clutch fluid - if its dirty you may have the the slave cylinder bearing giving up as this runs at engine revs in the fluid! An obscure fault but one that boiled my fluid a few times in Europe before it became a dealer job to rectify. Most dealers in this country wont have seen the fault as low temp low milage trips dont normaly cause a problem.
