If you have done this kind of thing before its no big deal.Just read a lot about what to expect and take lots ot pictures as you go (to make putting it back easier) Dont guess at any of it .Buying the service manual is money well spent.There are some NO NOs and other things that could get you injured.Secure it befor you do much and REMOVE the BATTERY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!Good Luck (I do it in my backyard all the time).As far as cleaning goes dont use solvents and such against the label for what you are doing.CARB CLEANER is not for use on your engine or paint.Use soapy water to clean and a leaf blower to dry it. Be certain of all you do especialy about correct oils, lubes, brake and clutch fluid....Some stuff is put back with a torq wrench!

you should be able to open the glove box an take it out you will see the air bos there remove 2 wing nuts and remove lid an change air filter the fuel filter is located a few inches from the fuel pump on the right side of bike you will see the fuel line it should have hose clamps if it has been changed befor

The information is on the motorcycle it is on the frame neck on a label (VIN plate) on the opposite side from the stamped VIN number. On the plate is the year, model,VIN #, and month/year of manufacture.
