Head bolt torque settings

most those bolts are TTY and are not reused.
and are set by angle. not torque.
I guess you never worked modern engines, or read the service manual first for all the steps in order ?
2.0L gas?
2.0. is not any suzuki engine name at all
and there are four(4) 2.0L engine used, 2 gas and 2 diesel
we can not guess engines, is it a USA car or not? I only answer for USA.
2.0 DDIS or AWD version < my guess is SuZ J20b?

Before installing the cylinder head to the cylinder block, turn the crankshaft and position key within the specified range (30-90°) in the counterclockwise direction from the top.

Install the cylinder head to the cylinder block.(do not lose 23 dowel pins)

1. Step 1: Apply engine oil to the cylinder head No. 1 bolt threads.
2. Step 2: Tighten the cylinder head No. 1 bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm), evenly and gradually, in sequence.NOTE
   Use a 12-point socket wrench to tighten the cylinder head No. 1 bolts.
3. Step 3: Tighten No. 1 cylinder head bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
4. Step 4: Tighten No. 1 cylinder head bolts an additional 60°.
5. Step 5: Tighten No. 1 cylinder head bolts an additional 80°.
6. Step 6: Tighten No. 2 cylinder head bolt to 19 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

and more. in the fsm. page 1D-45
1st remove seq.

now , install sequence.





log in to alldata.com and see all the other details, on engine
assembly, the warnings, and special details.

all bolt torques are determined by the bolt strength.

check the top of bolt head for marks and check edges of bolt head for more marks

what is the head bolt sequence and torque for a 2006 suzuki forenza.

The 8mm head bolts are torqued at 19 - 21 ft/lbs.
any smaller 6mm bolts are torqued to only 6 ft/lbs
like those on the lower cylinder.

According to my haynes manual for G-S reg, 1989-1998 it goes as follows,
Stage 1:- Tighten all bolts by hand until bolt heads just contact cyl. head.
Stage 2:-Tighten all bolts to 40Nm or 30lb ft.
Stage 3:-Angle tighten all bolts a further 60 degrees.
Stage 4:-Angle tighten all bolts again a further 60 degrees.
Stage 5:- M12 x 140mm bolts ONLY angle tighten a further 20 degrees.
Hope this helps everyone, sorry it seems longwinded but that is how it's written in the manual.
