You can check them if you suspect they are not firing properly. This would be very unusual; look for other problems first. It is more usual to just change them at regular intervals. They are very inexpensive and if you have the proper tools it is not difficult. You need a spark plug socket tool and proper anti-seize grease on hand if you are going to be pulling them out and putting them back in. With modern vehicles, there are some unusual situations when you would need to check them for fouling, but usually you would know it if you had to do so.
Your spark plugs provide the spark needed to get the petrol in your engine to burn. If a spark plug isn't working properly, it won't spark, so the fuel won't burn and the engine won't run properly. It will feel rough, you could lose power, have problems starting, etc.
For a 206 these should be changed roughly every 40,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first.
How you change them depends on your engine size, if you tell me I can give you the procedure. Or just take it to a garage, a new set of plugs cost around GBP16-24 depending which ones you buy, they shouldn't charge you much to fit them as it's a 15 minute job.
Rubber plug well seal is not properly positioned...dont mess with anything..I know katana. Properly position rubber water seal. Replace old plug wires with dielectric grease to help water proof...its not anything major katana are bulletproof!
pull off plug grabbing it as close to spark plug as you can. Using socket rotate counterclockwise and remove plug. Be careful putting plugs back in and thread by hand first. Then torque as plug box says as it depends on if you have a washer or not.
Any parts store can sell you the plugs for that vehicle. The main ones are NGK and Nipendenso. The retailer can also provide you with the proper gap.
Note; I've always found Autolite or Champion Platimun to work best, thats what we run in our company vehicles.
Your transport has a 6 cylinder engine ( the only one available tor that year), so u need 6 spark plugs. They should come w/ the gap set, but u should check them to make sure they're gapped properly, at .060 for your van.
