The rear shock on my 2008 125 SX is very squeaky. It is the actual shock that is squeaky, not the point where it goes into the swing arm. Any suggestions??

This is one hell of a job so if you aint got patience get someone who has to do it. Here goes;
Get her up on the main stand or jack her up. Ensure the weight is carried on the front wheel otherwise get a jack to raise/support the rear.
Loosen rear wheel adjusters and push wheel assembly as far forward as it will go.
Lift old belt from the top of rear pulley and as you ease the belt towards you rotate the wheel/pully towards the rear this will allow the belt to be eased off the pulley. MIND YOUR FINGERS
Now remove the rear wheel assembly completely, not forgetting to disconnect the torque arm and brake cable / rod if your bike has drum brakes.
Remove the drive pulley cover and ease the belt off.
Now the worst bit, the swing arm has to come off to allow the belt to go around it.
Disconnect shocks from swing arm (lower mounts only will be ok)
Remove swing arm.
Install new belt on drive pulley, replace swing arm ensuring the belt goes around it and reassemble all other parts.
Making sure all nuts / bolts are torqued to makers specs.
When the rear wheel is back in the belt can be refitted to rear pulley using the same method as removal it will probably be harder being new but it will go.
Finally adjust the belt tension to makers spec and ensure wheel runs true. That's it now you can have a cup of tea you've earned it

Raise rear tire off ground. Loosen chain adjusters, loosen and remove axle nut and remove axle. Remove chain from rear sprocket. Remove bolt from lower shock mounts. Loosen nut on swing arm and remove swing arm bolt.

Raise the rear wheel off of the ground. Spin the rear wheel by hand while running the chain over your hand (wear a surgical glove or use a rag). If the chain gets tight and then loose it has stretched and needs to be replaced. If it is an older Honda (70's), unbolt the rear shocks and see if the swing arm moves from side to side. If this is the case you also need new swing arm bushings. Another sign that the swing arm bushings are bad is if the chain is banging against the swing arm while you are driving down the road.

Things to check. Is the chain adjusted correctly and is the rear axle tight. With the rear wheel off the ground can the wheel be rocked around on the axle (Are there bad wheel bearings?). If you still have the problem after these checks, raise the rear wheel off the ground,take off the wheel, unbolt the shock (check mounting bolts for looseness), grab the rear swing arm to see if it moves or wiggles at the pivot points. You probably have bad swing arm bearings. If the swing arm bearings are bad you will probably have to change both bearings and the long inner bushing to fix the problem.

Get the bike up off the ground and make sure it's secure. Remove the rear wheel and the rear shocks. Look for anything else that may be attached to the swing arm such a brake rod return springs etc.

Once you have everthing off the swing arm, take the pivot bolt out and the swing arm with the bearings slides off the frame. Remvove the screw and lockwasher, bearing lockwasher, the right bearing locknut, and the bearing outer spacer. Using a punch, turn out the left bearing locknut from the fork hub and remove the spacer. From inside the fork, press or drive out the bearings and bearing spacers by applying pressure against the spacer. Press or drive out the bearing shields from fork inner side.

150 section. might get a 180 section with standard rear swing arm or 240 with modified swing arm shock mounts and extended drive sprocket and cover. do a search on wide tyre(tire) kit for harley.

remove seat and fuel tank/ air filter box assembly.
get the bike off the ground and secure so it wont fallover.
remove rear wheel, release the rear brake hose ,
undo clamps holding shock tank,
remove upper shock mounting bolt,
remove bolt holding double connecting rod to chassis,
remove ring nut and fork pin adjuster,
remove pin,
remove shock double connecting rod from chassis,
undo wishbone shaped brackets both sides , from centre attachment..
swing arm should be free..

put it on a table buddy get a socket that fits in there nicely and just bash the thing hard till it pops out if no good get back to me i have another option

is there a grease fitting on the swing arm? take out the bolts that hold the shock in place one at a time and grease them. use a bit of WD40 at all the pivot points until you find the source of the squeek.
