Idle speed on a fuel injected bike must me set by the dealer if it's still stock. I think you can set it yourself in you have a Power Commander on the bike but I don't know how to work with that unit.

2008 Harley Davidson FLSTN Softail Deluxe. Why does my bike want to die when I come to a stop only but runs great when going up and down gears?

The first thing to try is putting a couple of fuel tanks of injector cleaner (properly mixed) through the injection system.

Also clean the IAC (idle air control)

Rough idling when warm heritage

Sounds like it is sucking in air from somewhere. Check between carbs or other gaskets. Good Luck

It will stall out when at a stop. When taking off I have to roll the trottle back and forth and pop the clutch. after driving the for about 5 miles, then it starts to stall out when stopping and taking...

If your bike is stalling out when the engine is cold, this is typical of a carburetor equipped engine. You need to run a little longer with your enricher on. After it warms up, if it's still stalling out, remove the outer air filter cover and look at the upper right of your carb. There is a screw there. This is the throttle stop screw. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed. Set the idle speed when the engine is at full operating temp.

Good Luck

2003 HD Road King - starts fine, idle normal. Once it is warm, idles at 2000 rpm. Does not come back down, even after riding for an hour or two. Only idles normal when cold. Help??

If you bike is equipped with a carburetor, the idle stop screw is located at the top of the carb on the right side. Counterclockwise turn slows the idle speed.

If you bike is fuel injected, a dealer or shop will have to set the idle speed electronically.

Good Luck

95 Softail oil light comes on when it's warm only at idle.

the only way to check the oil pressure switch is to remove it and replace it, or test with a analog guage, if the pressure at idle is 5psi or higher at idle just replace the switch, the switch is not real percise and harleys have a dry sump oil system, and the pump is a g-rotor style dry sump pump at idle the engine might have 5-15lbs of pressure when warm and higher with engine revs you didnt say what weight oil you are running it could be to light of a viscosity 10-50, use a heaver weight oil 20-50 or like i use in my bike (2002 FLHTCU w/sidecar) straight 60wt hopes this helps
