it runs but sputters. that can be 2 things. First idd your sparkplug cap has had it (get a new 1 from the parts store) 2nd it could be that your getting to much fuel in top end of your revband. easy to check just run your bike a few min with a new sparkplug and look at the color. Wite is not enough fuel. Brown is perfect mix. black is to much oil and if black and wet its to much fuel. try this test and maybe you'll find it
the way you explain this, the fuel and air mix is wrong, is the spark plug wet, if it is check the carb air mix screw. remove the mix screw and use a can of air and blow it out. before doing this remove the air filter and the spark plug then spray some wd (brand name) in hole and do again with the air can. then screw back in. leave the air filter off. and put spark plug back in and start the engine you will need to adjust the screw until you can get it to start. when it does give it a few good revs and keep it running for a bit. replace the filter and start engine and you will need to adjust the air screw till the engine sounds right again.
It may need rebuilt maby it does not have enough compression to turn over i would suggest getting a compression test done at a local bike shop. If thats the case it most likely needs rebuilt.
misfire could happen if you have a leak in the intake or exhause valve , or if your engine running rich thats mean too much fuel coming to the engine . you should check oxygen sensor
In the fuel tank there were two filters that had become a little blocked with small fragments. I replaced both of these, aswell as the petrol tank and now works perfectly.Worth replacing with every service.
Also make sure the amount of fuel to oil is correct because if there is too much oil it leaves a small layer of oil on the spark plug which gets thicker when the engine cools. When you dip the spark plug in petrol and put it back in it obviosly makes a large enough spark to remove the oil, but repeats itself when the bike cools.
