The INNER primary cover has an oil seal where the transmission shaft goes through.
You'll need to tear down the entire primary drive to get the inner cover off.
Some notes:
The engine sprocket nut is 160-180 Ft/Lbs of torque, with RED LocTite!
This is going to take some power to break it loose (think impact wrench)
The central nut holding on the clutch pack is a LEFT HAND thread!
check your cable and connection points where it hooks up check your shifter and linkage for bends breaks and bends or any bangs or dings in clutch cover i hope this helps you
It is most likely a gasket. I'm guessing the clutch plates might have been replaced and the old gasket has been reused. It's common for them to tear when you take the clutch cover off and unless you are very careful and use some kind of sealant where the tears happen it can cause leaks later.
The best way to fix it is to take the clutch cover off and clean all of the old gasket from the clutch cover and the engine side also. You might need to scrape parts of it off with something sharp. Razor blades work well. Just be very careful not to scratch the sealing surface of the cover or the engine side. Then fit a new gasket. They usually aren't too expensive but it does vary from model to model.

Have you recently had the engine case apart? [even if not], ..check your rubber O-rings [seals]. These o-rings, located inbetween the clutch case cover and the motor itself,...if damaged, allow coolant to seep into the oil.
does the clutch lever release "sharply" and snap back after engagement? then lean bike over drain about a quart of oil, take off access cover to clutch and check to see if you have any broken clutch springs. if thats looks o.k. you"ll probably need new clutch plates. a real quick check when you ride the bike smell the oil, does it smell burnt? if it does, the plates are probably no good.
You must open the right hand engine cover.Unscrew the bolts with the springs and remove the plate and all the disks as a group.Don't mix them up.Wet the new ones with engine oil and place them exactly as the old ones were.
