Question about 1996 Suzuki VS 1400 Intruder

1 Answer

Bought 1994 Suzuki Intruder 1400. Had sat for 2 years. Put new battery in and now it just tries to start, but won't. Removed plugs and they looked new, but bone dry. Shouldn't they have been wet from trying to start? Please help.

Intruder only has 4,319 miles on it, so it shouldn,t be anything major I hope.

It sits for 2 years so you have to general check and clean everything, first replace the battery, spark plugs oil filter(if any) have your oil change, clean and balance your carburator and air cleaner, remove your gas tank empty it and clean use new gas, if you can spray an WD40 on all wiring socket then start the bike

The battery on my 1995 Suzuki intruder 1400 keeps going dead. Why?

either the battery has had it or you're alternator has. if theres no lights on the clock when engine running i'd say the battery was worn out. put a voltmeter across the battery before starting, should be in excess of 12 volts. start the engine and look again, should be up around 13+ volts, this will prove the charging circuit is ok. if the battery isn't faulty then you have a current leak somewhere, check all your connections especially alarm systems

loose or broken ground wire ,could be broke under insulation, vibration of motor makes it lose contact. probably on gear indicator switch.

I have a 1994 Suzuki Intruder 800. I bought it new and ridden it for years but every year I have had too buy new battery. It will not hold a charge and seems to drag when trying to start regardless of...

It's possible the voltage regulator output is too high and boiling all the fluid out of the battery. Do you have to add fluid to the battery at all? Have you done a volt output test of your alternator?

94 intruder 1400 wont start

Ok you have done all that is needed so far but as I understand you are saying that it is trying to turn over? How fast does it turn over? And do you have spark? Test the plugs by pulling one of them out at a time and grounding it to the engine and try turn the engine over a couple secounds while looking at the plugs. You should have a bright blue spark form all plugs. If you are needing any more help let me know.

Suzuki 1400 intruder wont start.. just clicking noise.

It's most likely the connection to the battery. The screws dont tighten in well and you get the famous clicking....I replaced the stock philips screws with a hex bolt and after two years of trying to solve the problen have been starting everytime for the past year no problems. Another gie away is the intermitant starting problem gets worse when wet.

1994 intruder will not start

the first thing is to make sure the gas has not gone bad, it has a carb... so if you smell gas strong try pulling the choke all the way and and giving it full throttle turn and turing it over to clear it out. try that first and see what it does. it may run down the battery so be carefull

hope this will help a little
