Left cylinders stop firing after riding for 5 minutes

1986 Honda Shadow VT1100. It will start, warm up just fine. I'll ride for maybe 5 minutes before I stop hearing exhaust come out of the left side, then it dies. It's almost as though the left cylinders were shut off. I have to wait about 5 minutes, then it will start up rough for a few seconds then it seems as though the left will start firing again. help

I replaced all the plugs, thanks. I'm going to clean the carbs, I'm thinking the jets are gummed.

I ride a 1986 shadow 500 with 32000 miles. recently it started acting up. the rear cylinder cuts out as i ride and it can last for several miles before it picks back up. At the same time, the RpM display...

You need to check for spark when the back cylinder is not firing to see if that is the problem...from there it will be easier to troubleshoot...also check for vacuum leaks.
